Starcraft 2: Multiplayer

I think I lost my brains while sleeping. I've had like 5 4gate matches in a row and lost everyone of them. Down from 880 to 700 :E. Feels like as a zerg if someone makes a move I have to make a move thats 2-3x better. Not just build like "hay i this one unit now half of your units are countered"

Ima gonna switch to Protoss :D

Oh no don't do that! I've been using a 5 roach rush lately that's pretty flexible and not all in. It works very well against 4/5 Gate Rushes and Wall-ins. Check it out here.

Hmmm... I've totally forgotten early roaches since the beta nerf. Good sir here are my babies, please take them.

I really dont like a timed early push like that for Zerg, I prefer an early macro based build, and a timed mid game push.

Starcraft 2 will no longer be free on the 18th, here in Korea, so I'll finally have to get out and pick up a copy.

With that, the restrictions on trans-continental gaming are expected to be lifted.

Wait, on the 18th we can play on other servers?

*Rushes to teamliquid*

finally finished my placements for 1v1 (having a gf is a major time sink sadly) and it placed me in gold... god damn gold?! do I really look like I know what I'm doing?!

you sure?

cuz I doubt, since in my opinion that should have been done since you know THE BEGINNING

Our stories are remarkably similar. Don't worry though: similar to my expectations for myself I'm sure you'll be cast down among the dregs soon enough.

Well, since it was free for Korea until now, it would have been hard to block other players from playing for free by exploiting the gateway systems.

I personally doubt that it'll be implemented straight on the 18th. More likely in early October.

but your source is just korean sources? cuz I dont see nothing about that anywhere else

Well, Korean sources, as in Blizzard Korea.

I can't find even regular people talking about it saying "OH GOD BLIZZ KOREA SAID THIS", which I'd imagine would have happened the second it was posted.

:(

It's funny how much Blizzard is like a drug pusher... "Hey just try it... first hit is free" "Ok now it's 60 bucks a pop, pay up because you ****in need it."

What? I'm pretty sure that Blizzard US mentioned that they'll support gateways in the future a while ago.

Of course, Blizzard Korea is retarded, so I might be wrong.

Lol yeah. Best to get people addicted and then exploit the addiction. :p

Oh, yeah they said they were going to find a way, but there was no date or even time frame when it will be there....

Most of us know this is true, but just to make sure everybody does know...

From teamliquid.net

It means that the best thing to do when the game starts is to build a probe first, THEN split them to the mineral fields, not the other way around.

Um... am I crazy or are all the numbers the same whether you build a worker before or after the gather command and regardless of split type?

It seems all that this shows is that you have more minerals if you build straight to the cap...

The whole point of the graph is to show you that splitting your workers when originally sending them to mine doesn't help. For example, some people just select all 6 workers, send to mine at one patch. Some send all to one patch on the end, then select 3 and send to the other side *Thus eliminated some of the clump for a second -> run across the field to the next patch*. Others hit f1, right click on a patch, f1, right click on the next patch, so on and so forth.

Jeez, I'd think the f1 method would be the fastest if you get your speed up high enough.

So that's useless? Good to know, cuz I never planned to give a shit.

The thing that confused me was building to cap... I guess you have 95 extra mineral at 2 minutes but it must fall after that because being supply locked feels like it would take a bad toll later on. Also I don't see pros doing that, ever.

The worker AI is pretty great in SC2, I think it was necessary with SC1 though.

Wow why would anyone think that was faster? I mean if you send them all to one they all go and split evenly as soon as they get to they hit the node. I think it would probably be slower to send them one at at time or split them. Personally I build my probe after I start gathering. Usually this is somewhere between second 2 and 3, most of the time 2 though unless the load time was faster than I anticipated. But in the end it's just a matter of a second or two which, if that counts toward your winning or losing, that's one hell of an evenly matched game.

I still split out of habit

Also helps me to sych up my mouse speed for the coming game

is relevant which minerals are the probes mining?

Obviously a few patches are a bit further away from your command center, so getting all your workers to mine the closest patches first is key, but in the end it doesn't make enough of a difference to make you win/lose.

Yeah I think the time you spend trying to maximize your resource gathering would put you behind more than just managing your build times efficiently.

In the early stages in the game, yes. But every little bit will help when you get everything flushed out and you gotta use that APM for something. Why not eek out a few more minerals than your opponent?

you people whit your apm thing
