What the hell...I don't understand how everything started at the Jen situation to the part where the girls on these forums are getting harrassed.Darks thread made a bunch of little horny kids start harrassing the girls on these forums?!?!Maybe the mods shoulda closed that thread once the spam started coming in... :(

This is odd since really that whole female picture thread was full of a "sort of joke" or a "theme" to harrass the girls in a sort of way. It seemed a kind of a joke or well I dont really know. What exactly are we refferring too here? Pms to girls? What sort of comments? Im not sure how your a defining "harrassment" here.
Sorry just have to be clear and im sure a few members will want to know.
 
as far as i can remember, you can't file a Bullying & Harrassment case unless the victim has expressely made his/her feelings clear to the aggressor. in all these cases, it looks like they've just PM'd you to threaten them. sure you can ban them, but (in the UK anyway), you can't take it to the legal system as you haven't met the criteria. although i'm not a solicitor so i may have misunderstood it.

and it's very uncool to ban Alieviation. very uncool indeed. stop swinging that ban stick, because you're turning this place into planethalflife.com or some of the other sites. and hl2.net was famed for it's fair moderation and decent community...

the guy is clearly apologetic so i don't see the need to ban him.

So he got banned for making some stupid comments to a girl?

What the hell, When did this become a communist regime, its not like he did a big bannable offense, its not like he was bringing the community down from a few comments. Your so called fair moderation is though.
 
well by the looks of it, he wasn't the only one doing that. so why was he singled out?
 
Wow, I'm happy I've been away from the forums the pass few days and missed this whole ugly can of worms. I feel sorry this was ever a problem. but then again we men are pigs and only think of two things Half-Life² and sex, so it not a shocker.

Now I know I have and will make foolish remarks to the Girls, but only jokingly, though that can be hard to read over a forums. If I ever offend anyone (male or female) please let me know and I'll stop at once. I never try to be hateful or rude but I do make mistakes.

I believe the mods are in the right to take quick action over Harrassment, especialy when it's against the girls (even if some of you feel Alieviation is being used as a wiping boy). Honestly its hard enough to get a female Half-Life² following, only to have a bunch to asshats make this place hostile for them.

So all and all, Sorry to Girls for the jerks out there (funny now that I think about it that say stuff like this that made me "just a friend").
 
Why are so many people asking why people have been banned? Is it that difficult to grasp?

Many people whine that the forums are going to hell, and they complain when someone is banned for contributing to it. People are leaving the moderators absolutely no choice. If a bit of tough moderating is what it takes to raise the tone of these forums, I welcome it.

If a headcrab had been banned for this, would anyone have complained? There is not one rule for high-post-count users and another for everyone else.

I do not aim this at anyone in particular, I just wish some people would stop critisizing the mods for doing their job.

He was the worst by FAR. Honestly in the actual girl picture thread is all ok... sort of I wasnt here for when it got deleted. But if you go to the link i showed before it is too far.

It is a shame since before a girl could post a picture subtly and everyone would say ooh you look nice and we would have a little joke about the fact that people would be pming her constantly and shouting "A/S/L"!!! But this really shows that those times are over. hopefully this will pass over but there has been too much "bad stuff" going on there has been the azz0r and Dark elf thing. now there is the girl thread and now fraud??!
What on earth can we do to make it all go away ;) Ill tell you: an exclusive zone where only the cool gang can hang :D.

A forum I knew came up with a drastic solution.

1. Ban ANYBODY who breaks a rule.
2. When you've got rid of them, disable guest accounts.
3. Disable user registration.
4. Bask.

It's a bit fascist, but it worked for them.

I'm beginning to think that the vets who are leaving all the time are doing the right thing. This is just plain annoying.

Didn't even know that Ritz and bliink were girls. Why should that matter at all. Internet sucks sometimes. No it's the pricks on the other side of the Internet who are at fault...
 
This is sad. A girl comes into our community (hopefully) for the same reasons we are here, HL2 BAYBEEE! And they get hounded and abused and all that other stuff that happens once a girl announces her presence around a bunch of "internet" guys.

There is, yes, but we can´t force people to use it. Simply put, a ban is the best way to deal with this kind of repeat-warnings-ignored type of behavior.

My thoughts on the subject are that the ban was probably just simply because I dont want to share the forum with anyone that would harrass another member irregardless of whether they were told to stop or not. They should have known what they were doing was stupid from the start.
 
I really didn't think people like alienition would let his dick guide him instead of his brain. I thought we were fairly resonable here?

I mean, verbal abuse in real life is one thing, abuse on the net can be taken personally, but its way different (for starter's it upto the abused if they decide to take it personally or not, and its not like we even really know each other on here), you either choose to ignore, or you complain, Yes it wasnt right of him,, I say you should of given him a fairly harsh warning in the form of this thread, then if he did it again... ban him.

im detecting abuse of power, on a mild note. weither it be for your blog, or to make the girl member's feel safer by creating this thread in order to ban people in public eye to humiliate,, or all. have pity,

regardless of what u personally think of this situation, when a member is warned to stop a certain behaviour and said member continues that behaviour.. then obviously a ban is neccessary.

now i am not 100% sure, Ritz would have to tell u herself, but i believe she felt she was being harrassed and reported it.
that is not for u to dispute because forum members aren't the ones making the rules and staff have the descretion to do whatever within the guidlines they have been given..
 
btw, this erm Hakkazida (cant spell his damn name), may not be the same person as this deathseeker guy. I dunno but he seems to think it is amusing that you have banned someone else, evident on team xbox and in threads on this forum. Tbh im suprised they havent banned him in team xbox. Anyway, for those who dont seem to think this pokemon avatar guy should had been banned then well lets just see how you like being hit on non stop.
