They're just around the corner from the autogun yard, once you get back in the car, turn the corner, and cross the pool of toxic waste, watch for an opening on the right, that's it.

A far more obvious connection to draw would be with the series's famous sulking couple, as they are always seen sitting on a couch.

My guess would have been that it was a red herring to make us think the couple had snuffed it at some point, though of course we see both of them alive and well a short time later.

But Gabe says it's a reference to Bioshock and I recently read a 1up interview in which the interviewer seemed convinced of the same thing. If it is a BS reference, it's a vague one, that's all I've got to say.

3. Realizing that the thing that the monitor is mounted on in the plaza right outside the trainstation was an obelisk.

4. Hearing Alyx say nice shot if you make a basket with the rollermine in Black Mesa East.

I just noticed these today after so many years. In the very beginning of HL2 there is graffiti sprawled all over the windows. Until today I never read them. Apparently the either the texture artist took pictures of real graffiti to use in the game or is a gang member.







Notice writing that reads SURX3 and SUR13. Those are markings representing the Sure?os a street gang here in North America who are rampant in my hometown of Es Eff.

The baby represents humanity, the combine are nuturing us.

There is a thread about it somewhere around here...but anyway, some have noticed the baby has really gray, lifeless eyes. I'm sure you can find meaning in that.

IMO the baby is dead. It is rebel graffiti. The combine do not appear to be that artistically creative. The meaning being that the combine by way of the suppression field have killed our ability to reproduce.

If you walk up to that blocked door and wait, Alyx walks up to it also and explains more about Ravenholm...

yup! I ran to that door and stood there just to see if Alyx would get impatient or something, when I heard her behind me talking about that place, never expected it!

Edit: Just loaded the Black Mesa East chapter, seems to be triggered when you're right at the Ravenholm door.
Also, when you're still with Eli in BME, after he says 'take a look around' he'll say something about the teleporter when you stand next to it.

Yeah I knew about the stuff Eli says in the lab(the newspaper article, teleporter, Azian & Alyx pic, cremator head) but I didn't know about that. I always thought she stayed a little too long after she sighs but I didn't know she talked about it...

Since we're talking about the train:

I just noticed that in the very start, if you do some jumping as the Half-Life 2 logo is shown, you can actually move a small bit so that the G-man doesn't stand right in front of you when he does his speech, but slightly to the right.

I also noticed that you can trap the flying camera (that flies around at the platform) inside the train.

You can actually trap one of the soldier at the place with the playground and the two "they have no reason to come to our house"-guys.

The other soldier just stands there, he won't react to any objects thrown at him.

It doesn't happen when you kill the chopper. It happens after you do a certain amout of damage and then it goes on it's hyper-crazy-mega-bombing-run. Perhaps it goes onto auto-pilot after he pops out?

What makes everyone so sure it's the pilot? Seems like a fairly good sized heli, could very well be the co-pilot or some other systems operator.

Ah one of the things I noticed the second... err third time through, was the part where you are fighting the combine near the lighthouse. After you get destroy the gunship and are on the cliff edge, you see a dropship fly past you carrying your car away... I think I noticed the dropship before just not that it stole'd your car!

OMG, I saw that the first time I went through, and I laughed so hard, I almost wanted to cry. You see I am a /b/tard and a specific meme came to mind at that moment. any other /b/tards will catch what I'm thinking, for everyone else, it has something to do with my bike getting stolen.

I just noticed the second time during the level
"Freeman Pontifex", just after you get the AR2 and get a glimpse of the bridge, you can see Gman walking across the bridge to the shut door in which the Vort opens at the end of the chapter.

Ps. Development Commentary helped me find him
Its not hard to spot him though, when you look at the left side of the bridge, hes the only thing moving

i noticed that in klieners lab the second time you visit it after nova prospekt the printer that is printing the massive long graph things stopped and they've circled something that must have been of interest.


no idea if anyone's mentioned this before, this is only my 2nd full run through of the game my first thoughts were of the wow! signal from SETI for some reason

I justed played it the third time through and noticed, that after you come back to kleiners lab, after mossman teleported herself and eli from nova prospekt, that kleiner seems to have logged onto "lamarr.net" with username root and some 6 letter password, which might be also lamarr. i found that amusing.
