The website is from a hospital in Africa.

I've never seen nor heard of this disease because we have decent health care here

This isn't fair for these kids. I can't help but think maybe they would want to be out of their misery as it looks absolutely excruciating.

Warning

These are fairly disturbing pictures of children ravaged by disease.

How much would it cost to stop this from ever happening again? Everyone donate one penny? I'm going to try to organize something.

Warning:
Criminals try to collect money abusing the name of the Noma Children Hospital.

Funny that this news comes from a person whos name is Virus...

...But not really... This is horrific...

I did some research:

Disease: Noma
Known in antiquity to such physicians as Hippocrates and Galen, noma was once reported around the world, including Europe and the United States. With the improvement in hygiene and nutrition, noma has disappeared from industrialized countries since the 20th Century
Despite the fact that more than 400,000 children are affected in Africa alone, there is only one noma hospital in all of Africa. Noma Children Hospital Sokoto is located in Nigeria and aside from the regular doctors, medical teams travel there to perform operations. Without plastic surgery, the children's faces cannot be restored.

Holy shit, this and the swine flu are going to turn Left 4 Dead into a reality.

I don't see why everyone in the world couldn't give 10 cents or a coin that you might not pick up if you dropped it on the ground. Maybe we could stop this.

i Think these pictures and seeing people's heads getting cut off has scarred me for life!!

Wow! Put things into perspective for me. I couldn't imagine what those kids are going through.

I wish I could donate money, but there are a lot of criminal charities out there that steal donations. If I knew for fact that my money would go directly towards that hospital, I would donate money, and often.

How much have you donated so far?

Not in this economy...

Jesus, it's like someone took a cookie cutter to their faces.

I expect people to donate what they can. It doesn't necessarily matter how much, if everyone would donate what they can.

I could give a couple dollars, you can give 1 penny and you would be helping.

There is power in one person, but if the billions of people on Earth united and donated what they could this disease could be eradicated.

22,000,000 have HIV / Aids in Africa.
cure that first please.

Or you could have different people with skills in different areas working on both at the same time? Medical research isn't an either/or situation.

this disease is curable now, so I don't agree.
I understand what you mean...

...but i think Eejit just nailed it.

Where are the puns btw??

If someone was tasteless enough to make a pun about this terrible disease I'd be so angry I'd chew the face off them.

How dare you make jokes! Hold your tongue!

thats horrible. set up a donation website or something.

Why not start a halflife2.net fund and see how much we can all raise. I've seen other forums do it, it's pretty impressive. There are sites that let you do it I think.

It's a shame that drug companies are the way they are. Way more money goes into finding a cure for impotence in old age men who can pay for the drugs than finding a cure for things noma or malaria, which have horrendous effects on millions of people who live in Africa.

Actually the big drugs companies don't look for cures, just treatments.

Whats even more ****ed up and gets me really pissed off is that we have the technology and resources to give the entire world food and clean water. Yet so many people are dieing of starvation and poverty.

Looks horrible.
God, the idea of your bones just rotting away slowly until you can reach your brains(if it comes so far before you die). Also look at their almost completely uncovered teeth, the pain it must have caused

God bless these children :(
