The CoD:MW2 MEGA Thread

I'm getting better performance from this than I am many L4D dedi servers. That's how I can settle for it.

I'm getting better performance than IWnet on pretty much every multiplayer FPS I've played in recent years. Including MW1 and WaW. RELIABLY. Without throwing a crapshoot matchmaking dice.

P2P matchmaking is a massive step backwards, so why settle when we know there's a better solution out there.

Cool game, raged when they
Killed off Roach and Ghost, also pretty gay how PFC Allen had to get the bullet right after becoming a monster. But at least Price is back, definitely thought he was dead after the first game. Also wtf at Zakhaev being a hero in Russia, crazy lunatics. Heard they're making a short comic series for Ghost, kinda like "uh" since he just got killed. Everything is so existentialist now.

The console versions wouldn't be able to use lean as every button on the controller is used.
Cept' the Six Axis.

Meanwhile, in November 2007...

I've just played the original for the first time, though on a PS3 and swearing all the time at the controls. I was already aware that the series has some truely inspired set-pieces, but personally, I found the respawning enemies (and allies) beyond ludicrous. It doesn't feel like warfare, it feels like a pretend fight or historical re-enactment and the over-liberal use of 'spawning huts' almost completely ruined it all for me.

Also, any PS3 FPS I can complete with my rubbish controller skills in five or so hours needs to stop scraping the dinner into the bin when mum isn't looking.

As soon as I got the knife I just ran around trying to kill somone with it, it's so situation and hard to use I think it's useless. Also, has anyone seen a tactical nuke? You have to get a 25 killstreak and I think it just autowins the game for you.

As a projectile weapon, a knife would make great use while escaping around blind corners, throwing them in your retreat

I've been watching a stream of someone playing the game and IWnet looks like a steaming turd. He's been matched into 1v4 games, matched into a laggy shit full red bar game with a full green bar host (the bars are ****ing stupid btw), matched into a game where he was the only person once the game has started, crashed while getting matched, matched into a game only for the game to literally say that the server is unavailable, and played a few games with hackers where he could do nothing but continue playing or leave and forfeit his match bonuses.

People are saying "yea, this works good enough, sometimes I get into a laggy game. but it's not that bad." They're essentially saying this whole system is hit or miss.

HIT OR MISS IS NOT GOOD ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO RELIABILITY OF DEDICATED SERVERS.

How anyone could settle for this is a shame. And the servers aren't the only issue.

I have yet to have a laggy match. No host migrations yet either. I also instantly find full matches whenever I click the playlist. I don't doubt that some people are having issues, but I think it has to do with your location and the relative connection strength of people playing in your area.

I'm not saying IWNET is perfect, it just doesn't suck nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.

Scratch that, I had about 200-ish ping when I was d/ling a file at 1.5MB/sec in the background...but that one's on me, not IWNET.

The fact that IWNet doesn't work whatsoever for a group of people and very halfassedly for others says otherwise. Now we have people that actually wanted to buy the game but are prevented from playing to their full enjoyment anyway.

You see, I'm getting the complete opposite. Much better multi performance than most of my other online games. Not that I doubt people are having are having trouble, but people have trouble with every other online game at some point. Hell, I've never had a decent non lag game of Killing Floor yet, but had quite a few already on MW2. So your "better solution" simply is not the case for everyone.

The comic was announced way before the game's release. I want them. :|

I love how the last game of the night for me resulted in a win and i had the last kill. it was the funniest shit, I was just spraying around a corner and 2 guys blindly ran into my fire

Also why I think that IWNet should be an alternative method of playing, not the sole method of playing.

Have IWNet for people like you who have no problem with its current setup which would also guarantee a way of playing with stock and default settings ie no server mods, tweaked player counts, etc. for those who wish to do so.

Then add the dedicated servers for reasons that have been listed a kabajillion times across the internet which I am too tired to put here.

Everybody wins.

Anyone else think the Favella missions were a pain in the arse?

Yes, particularly the first one. I was playing on hardened and dropped to normal difficulty after that.

Anyway wanna play spec-ops with meh(360)?

Activision will most likely start charging people that want to play CoD online.

You should expect us to test and ultimately launch additional online monetization models of some of some of our biggest franchises like Call of Duty.

The fail is strong with Activision.

they already have a significant portion of their fanbase boycotting the game, now they wanna test the waters and start charging people? i'd expect nothing short of world war 4.

wow, wasn't expecting that...figured it was a nade

The difference being that there is no massive GIANT ROBOTZ!!!!! For that matter, neither is their magically possessed hands, vampires or men using cardboard boxes as disguises. Yeah, I can see how much CoD has ripped off Metal Gear :p

the magically possesed hand was fake to confuse the enemies(massive mgs4 spoiler but who cares)

anyway take out all that is not realistic and feels very similiar

and compare it to the storyline of the previous which seemed more realistic and original

Jesus did they not make enough money on their overpriced game?

I'll gladly navigate to DICE and BF:MC2 if this shit goes anywhere.

True fact: COD 6 has more player playing it than CS right now. This is a new record for Steam :D I don't like the grassy maps and the worst part is you have no control over what map you want to play. :( Also is it just me, or does the multiplayer feel more realistic now? Before I could earn tons of kills but now, it's really hard. You don't have too much ammo, the kill streaks are hard to get (UAV is kinda easy), and it takes 5 bullets to kill somebody?

Multiplayer definitely feels more 'realistic' or at least harder than CoD4s, but I'm enjoying the living shit out of it on the 360.

The third person mode is actually pretty fun. However, it would have been more fun in combination with the arcade mode that isn't in CoD6 anymore..

Tbh, it would be pretty cool to have a third person mode with:
- Slightly faster run speed
- Slightly less aim accuracy
- More health
- Weapon pickups and power-ups

Its what those who refuse to accept change call Modern Warfare 2.

Hool10 - Hardcore mode.

Beat it on Veteran last night. It was much easier than the previous CoD games.

Yeah, I'm going through Veteran now, I can beat the levels if I go at my own pace, only problem is when I'm given a time limit; the one I'm talking about is the sub mission where you have about 2 minutes to get across the base.

Been using the Silencer and Holographic Display on the M4, and desperately want the Cold Blooded Perk. The only problem is people can still see my tracers (wish I had the option of emptying your magazines of tracer rounds)

Yeah that was the toughest part of the entire game for me. It basically comes down to the last few seconds every time and I was still surrounded by enemies.

I'm half way through on Veteran now, and it's not as hard as I thought it would be. I'm only doing to be an achievement whore. :D
