After the ordaining of a female head bishop, the episcopal church may scizm. Many of the most conservative sects violently oppose women as bishops or even ordained priests. Particularly, one here in ft. worth vows to become the leader of his own new church, something that has never happened in the history of the country.

Personally I think it's rediculous that people could be so bigoted these days to not allow women to advance in their chosen field.

damn does that mean there's now more groups to redicule? There's been so many schisms in chrisitianity that I cant keep track

but seriously these people need a dose of reality. They need to be exposed for their bigotry and shunned from society, let them remain marginalised. Kudos to the group that would allow women to take traditional mens roles.

The conservatives are right. I may not agree with their believes, and infact like the fact that woman are getting more rights. But if you follow a religion and thus believe that it's rules are made up by god, the highest authority according to that religion, and the god is the truth, then it's not open to interpetation. Secular laws are, since they are based on human logic and morals at the time, and can alway be attacked and changed.

But you cannot simply say you are a christian or muslim and then simply not follow certain rules that are in the bible and/or the koran. By doing that you are in effect admitting that the religion is a human myth, and thus you pull the basis for all your believes more or less from under your feat.

Do note that in certain situations where it doesn't clearly state something in the holy book,s it is open to interpetation, but still in that case if you are religius and you for example believe that the pope or cardinals or mullah's truly communicate with god then again what they say cannot be questioned.

Do note again that I believe they are all pulling it out of their asses, but still the most troubling thing about religion is the fact that people can literally believe in it and still justify action that are completly counter the teachings of that religion like the crusades, so while it may seem that it's a positieve thing religius people saying that women should get more rights, remember that same hypocracy also leads to something like the crusades, so I do not admire them really.

nowhere does it say woman cant be ordained ..the catholic church for example said specifically that it is not their place to judge whether woman can be ordained because it was jesus himself who picked his disciples (the first "priests") and because they were all men it must mean that only men can be priests ...despite the logical fallacy in this justification the church has never supported the issue of ordaining women
