known to sponsor terrorism? US does that too. Nuclear Weapons is the only way the US will treat you like an equal. If Iran gets nuclear weapons the Us can easily lose many soldiers when invading. Thats why they dont want them to get rockets.

I guess I didn't think it would take a genius to figure out that I meant sharing the land peacefully, equally. Not with invisible dividers, but living in the same cities, drinking the same water, etc etc etc.

well, the thing about music in Iran is that there have been some limitations before, not all songs were permitted to be released and music bands from abroad where "banned", however, right now they're just called "banned" music, they're really not. any kind of music is sold here and any kind of song gets published without any problem. honestly, i don't know why they're even called banned music, i wouldn't think it's because of religious matters cause for example even the iranian TV uses techno music in some programms.
and, even some foreign music bands were "allowed" by the time there were limitations, if i remember correctly, one of the singers that his albums were sold by that time was chris de burg.
right now, no music is considered "banned" in Iran.

People have always been well-off under Swedish rule. Just ask the Finns, the Norwiegians and the Estonians.

Well, I'm pretty sure before Saddam came to power in Iraq girls generally didn't go to school (I didn't think that Iran is 20 years behind Iraq or anything like that, I'm just ignorant of much in the middle east and wanted to make sure)

You're right.

While Saddam was in power girls were pretty much equals, they could go to school, dress however they want.
I was reading some blog by an Iraqi woman in the guardian who used to dress in jeans ect. Now she's scared to go out unless shes dressed in proper Islamic dress as its unsafe not to.
 
To be fair, Saddam did a good job of modernising Iraq.

Until all the wars, sanctions and bombings kicked in that is.

5 years of elementary school, 3 years for middle school, 3 years for highschool, one year of pre-university course, and the university, it depends.
for example medicine has 7 years of gp, 4 years of general surgery, 4 years of specific courses, for example cardiac surgery, while if you study english, it takes about 4 years to get your masters degree.

if i remember correctly, till some years ago studing till the middle school was a duty, now i think it's until highschool. note that what we learn in highschool is about as much as what the US or Canada has in the first two years of university.
