Found my first Power Fist & love it.

Found my first Fatman & so of course went on a spree....

Funny how fast you can LOSE Karma....

Funny how extremely easy it is to regain karma to the point the system is almost worthless, just get the Mr.Handy and have him create fresh water after fresh water for you, giving fresh water to the beggars(who will always take it), greatly increases your karma.. It's ****ing retarded.

I just rented this game a day ago, and I can't stop playing it. I played Fallout 2, but this is way better IMO. When I first found a Ripper, I almost cried, and when I got the longcoat outfit and the shishkabob, I came everywhere.

something tells me i should jsut go ahead and get that explorer perk eventually.

I'm still waiting for the 2nd patch before I start playing again. Tired of it crashing every 30 minutes.

I may have found out what was causing that. For me at least, it was my onboard soundcard and its drivers. I'm pretty sure the onboard realtek soundboards are what messes it up for a lot of people. Some people said that updating/rolling back their drivers fixed the problem. As for me, well I had a SB Audigy lying around, so I installed that and wham bam thank you ma'am, problem gone.

Uninstalling all 3rd party codec packs and disabling AA (1680*1050 native res, aaaargh) fixed the crashes for me. I still have some odd ones every 5 hours or so, but they aren't much of a problem thanks to the insane loading speed of the game, one of the many things Bethesda did much better this time.

Do the people that have constant crashes have ffdshow video/audio codec installed, and if you have, have you put fallout 3 in the list of exceptions?

Seeing how you all worship the game, can you explain a few glaring plotholes to me?

* Water purification - removing water from radiation is as simple as, say, filtering it through dirt. Why does the wasteland need Project Purity?
* Who commands the supermutants? WHY do they want downtown DC? WHY trenches?
* Col. Autumn is a good guy, he wants to activate the purifier and purify water. Why can't we negotiate with him or even tell the Brotherhood that he's not genocidal?
* How does Dad know the Enclave is evil? Does he cast detect alignment or what?
* Why does Anna Holt after being shot and irradiated come back to life in Raven Rock?
* Why does Fawkes refuse to go into the chamber?
* Why do we have to destroy Autumn's Enclave if they DON'T WANT TO KILL EVERYONE?
* Why does GECK behave NOTHING like in previous games and other source material?
* Why does even the GECK have to appear?
* Why are there working power stations, lightbulbs, air conditioning, vending machines, terminals and other delicate electric/electronic stuff two centuries after the war?
* Why is Fo3 black & white in it's portrayal of good and evil rather than gray?

Maybe my standards are too high, maybe I shouldn't be comparing next-generation 2008 games to the golden classics of 1997, but I'd apprecaite greatly if anyone could explain to me the above, in a plausible way that doesn't make Occam's Razor shatter into a thousand pieces.

Games with plotholes? Say it isn't so!

Well I think I can answer this one:
"Water purification - removing water from radiation is as simple as, say, filtering it through dirt. Why does the wasteland need Project Purity?"
I believe they're actually removing radiation from the water rather than water from the radiation.

I don't care. It's a game. I had fun exploring the Wasteland and that's all that matters to me. I can't even remember the main questline.

im getting tired of this shot,if you like the game then then come in this thread and hate it....it's like posting halo sucks in a forum full of halo fans stfu srsly

Oh lawd. Since when was enjoying = worshipping?

I've got to admit I didn't like the look of this game at all before release, but I've given it a rent and so far so good. Really enjoying exploring the wasteland and so far the quests have actually been surprisingly fleshed-out and fun - especially when you consider the tripe that was in Oblivion.

Not to say I don't have any problems with it - for one - they really ****ing need to hire some proper animators. Do Bethesda even have animators? They're just...so bad. I can't count the number of times the god-awful character animations have taken away something from the experience. Generally though, I'm liking the game a lot so far and I'm ejoying it for what it is. I'd probably give it and 8-8.5/10.

WATER - Keep 3 days supply of bottled water on hand at all times (1 gallon per person per day). Other sources of water in your house are: water in the drainpipes: hot water heater. Also water from underground springs and wells that already undergo a natural filtration system. Snow that you collect from at least a meter below the surface is also a safe source of water. To purify water, filter it through a coffee filter, cheese cloth or paper towel. This will remove any particles. Then you can boil it, or use household bleach (16 drops from an eyedropper per gallon of water) to sterilize it. After adding bleach, let the water stand at least 30 minutes before drinking.

By the way, to anyone who doesn't already know, MIKAEL GRIZZLY IS AN ADMITTED BEASTIALIST AND HAS MULTIPLE "PARTNERS".

Also, FO3 rocks!

Mikael, any given game has as many flaws as you've pointed out for Fallout 3. Yes there are even more problems than you list, but then there's even more game to Fallout 3. There is no one game that is up to the golden standard you seem to measure the game by.
Seeing how you all worship the game
Half the people in the thread are as butt-sore about the quality of the game as you are. When you say this, you only expose how utterly infirm you are, attacking a little straw-man of gaming hype that no one else has bought into.

As for plot holes, care to explain how the nineteen fifties has continued for three hundred years (and 100 years pre-apocalypse), and no new popular music has been created in the meantime? Surely this is a far bigger leap of imagination than everything else you point out? (half of which aren't plot holes, but tech / dev time limited or boo-hoo, 'someone tore some pages out of my "choose your own adventure" book' pisswhines). Do you not question this because:

A) It's original Fallout canon and therefore, more sacred than Jesus' arsehole
-or-
B) It's just the setting, in a game, and all in all, you can suspend disbelief so long as it makes things more fun?

And last of all, why on earth would anyone come back to a thread that specifically warns them off, after having being temporarily banned, to throw this kind of flamebait into the ring? Hating Fallout 3 in the land of indifference is damned serious business. Do something the whole community can enjoy, like bashing Halo.

edit - STOP LOOKING AT HER WITH THOSE EYES, MIKAEL. SHES JUST AN INNOCENT LITTLE KITTENZ.

I don't like where Pes is taking this thread. We're literally minutes away from someone suggesting that the eventual existence of a Fallout 3 mod that uses the term 'DogMeat' to nauseating effect.

Thanks a lot Kupo.

I'll be bleaching this brain for weeks.

It's more than just a game...

THE THREAD TITLE BLOODY (lol bloody) LIED

But I have answers to those questions, if only I didn't have an exam in 1.5 hrs. *gtf'so the internetz*

now for those questions:
1)Don't know but my guess would be that radiation is quite difficult to remove from water. And the main problem in the story was how to remove it on a large scale since pretty much the world's supply was screwed.

2)No one, they probably organized after escaping that one Vault (112?) to slaughter/eat/conquer as barbarians do.

3)The Enclave are after world domination (evil!) but the main reason is probably cause their involvement resulted in your dad dying. And their control of the Purifier would probably somehow result in their control tightening faster.

4)See 3

5)There's more than one scientist with that hairstyle, and they don't say it was her shot in their

6)Try listening to him. I agree it's a bitch of a reason though.

7)See 3

8)Didn't bother with previous games

9)Magical super duper problem solver!

10)Probably not everything is destroyed...and you'd be surprised at what can be made and salvaged from heaps of crap (Megaton).
