The Illustrated Story of Iso-Town

Still hooked! I think the only suggestion I could make is just not have the lines where Ian swears, it kinda breaks the flow of, hrm, tranquility, I guess.

Ian was basically king of the hill til people started crowding around him. I don't know how he even puts up with it. I wouldn't.

This story is the best story ever. You should seriously consider making it a book to learn children about construction and city life (like, put certain words in bold, and they have to point out in the illustration what thing the word would refer to)

:D

Holy shit :D, if you turn that into a city with skyscraper's, by about page 300 id assume.. I will bow down to you as my Iso God.

I didn't work at all before dinner today, sadly. Although, I still got 6 images done.

The sidewalk for 'Tacos' is finished, and they are beginning to fill up the parking area.
Paul is still working on his extention.

Ian has expanded his garden two-fold!

Construction on the gas station is waiting on a connection to the water pipe near 'Tacos'. They'll have to go under the road somehow.

it412sj.png

Paul's extension is nearly finished. And so is the parking lot for 'Tacos'

it421gb.png

The new section of Ian's garden is budding. Looks like more tomatoes, comparing it to when the original section budded.

Paul's extention is finished as far as the brick laying. And the parking lot at 'Tacos' is done too, leaving the last place to fill with cement to be the connection to the road.

It also looks like they are going to lay the pipes on the other side of the road from the gas station, to the water pipe that's connected to 'Tacos'.

They still haven't layed pipe under the road though...

it436ix.png

There's the piping layed. Looks like everything is in order there.

Paul's got some lumber there.

And Ian's tomatoes are growing. Look how many there are...

And oooh, the surveyors! I wonder what's coming now.

it449he.png

Aha, they've blocked off one part of Main Street. I was beginning to wonder if they were going to try an alternate method of connecting each side.

Paul's work is looking good.

And there's the layout for the connection to the road from the parking lot. Looks like the only steps left would be to paint the parking lot lines, and maybe some landscaping.

And check that out, our new "building" has a little plot there. Fairly small though. What could that be?

it457ge.png

Something small indeed. Looks like they're going to pour cement in that little space. Hmm.. Maybe a little bench or something :p

Ian's tomatoes are ready to be plucked. That would fill two bushels easily. What's he going to do with all of them?

Cement is being poured in the driveway of 'Tacos'

The road is already being chopped up for the pipe to be placed. Work quickly you guys, you can't hold up the road forever!

---

And that's all for today. Hopefully I'll have more than 6 tomorrow.

Thanks for all the great compliments :D And Clarky, yeah, I plan on taking it as far as I can go :) I really can't wait to start drawing the construction for larger buildings, and other fun stuff :)

D: I wish I'd seen this thread earlier!
It's so...enjoyable!
I bet that little thing at the top corner will be a bus stop or something :D

is cool, reall really addictive:p

!!! this thread shoudl be stikied:)

I love the detail as far as the building process is concerned that you put into the first few chapters, and I'm also glad to see that your speeding up. I hope you continue to zoom out quite a bit.

*ffs I had almost the whole post done but it got reset and now I have to start over...*

OK! Sorry for the 'break' for the past couple days. I've gotten distracted by stuff like school and... Blood. (What a classic game)

So without further delay, unless IE decides to be gay again, here is your Iso-Town.

it460vx.png

Cement is being filled into the new little lot, and some metal beams rest to the side. You may be right IDoNotBelongHere, it looks like it's a bus stop.

*MILESTONE* I'm no longer going to write about construction unless it's something interesting or noteworthy.

Paul has his materials ready to finish his extension. The parking lot of 'Tacos' is being painted, I can't wait to eat there.

it479tp.png

Yaaay! 'Tacos' is open! I'm there right now, there's my car. In fact, I'm actaully eating a soft taco right now. It's pretty good. The best part is the tomatoes... They are home-grown quality, really.

it485op.png

Yeah, that's definitely a bus stop.

Woah. Lots of bricks there. Finally some work on the gas station.

First lane of piping done... One to go.

Yes, I'm at 'Tacos' again. I really like it here. I may be here every day.

it490tf.png

Bus stop finished. Pretty sleek. Even the roof is glass.

Hm, what's that little speck of dirt in the corner of the roads?

it501mq.png

Ooooh, nice bus. And hey, a stop sign! Man, FINALLY. I was wondering when one would be put in. I mean, we could have had some serious accidents on our hands.

These tacos are freaking addicting.

it519mo.png

Not much happening. The gas station construction and pipe-work proceed.

it525re.png

More tomatoes for Ian. Wtf does he do with them anyway? He's got to be doing something, because by my count he's got less bushels visible than he grew.

The porta-potty near 'Tacos' was relocated. Is that spare pipe supposed to be there?

---

Thanks for being patient with me. And sorry if this seems like it's getting boring. But look at how activity increases over time. In the beginning hardly anything happened, but now that there is more stuff, more can happen. And it will continue to become more and more active as more things are built. As I said earlier I'm not going to describe every single step of construction any more. I doubt you need to hear all that, you can use your eyes :)

And thanks to everyone again, I'm glad to bring enjoyment to you :D

boring? WTF are you talking about, i just cant wait for the next one :D

Well, I mean in the last couple images nothing note-worthy happened really, besides continued construction and Ian's tomatoes being plucked... Imo that's not boring to me, and maybe a few others find it interesting, but I'm just trying to not sell this for more than what it is :p Even though each image takes a pretty-much-equal amount of time to make, despite the level of interesting-ness.

so do you plan on zooming out a little bit? or do you plan on staying at approx the same level?

I plan on keeping this zoom until the town becomes large enough to be too large for the forum, at which point I will switch to non-zoomed, and continue until... Well, Let's just see if I get that far :p

Do you have any idea how big that is?
Even though I'm pretty sure you were being sarcastic :p

Enough chit-chat in my thread!

(How about you go on AIM or something... I'd be happy to talk to you)

Ooh ooh. Is Ian selling his 'matos to Taco?

Ooh ooh maybe he works there?

Or maybe he throws them at passers-by. o_o

I'm almost positive the tomatoes are going to the taco place, unless perhaps he's crossbreeding them with tobacco plants...*gasp*

And I will be the first to officially request a cameo, if such is possible.

lol, cameo? Well I could always stick the little guy I made of you a while ago into an image. But that wouldn't fit very well :p

And it's hard to draw someone in a 6x2 pixel space ;o
The only way you'd be recognisable is if I actually said it was you.

But I'll keep it in mind.

Perhaps when more neighbors move in I'll name them after you guys and we can pretend it's you. And then I can toy with your lives

I was hoping some inhabitants of Vegetania might simply match names/personalities with some .netter, or perhaps their could be some stores named after us, at least a Shensburger.

And a field full of cows. Dear god you have to have a field full of cows! Or... something else with cows. :D

This is simply amazing work. This is my favorite art thread so far. Man your good.

What is so appealing about isometric artwork? I guess the geometry apeals to some part of the brain. I'm now going to doodle an isometric town in math tomorrow.

Cool town. It really is fun looking at the place expanding. Definately takes me back to the old Sim City days.

...and why is Ian leaving his tomatoes outside like that? Is he trying to lure in another blue-jay?
