The official goodbye forums thread

I've been around a while methinks reading, I don't think I'll be able to abandon this site till the game comes out, lol.

I'll just post less than I do now :D .. .would that be posting at all?
 
In short:Some people on 1st page thougt that HL2 Storyline on hl2.net, im not sure, was leaked, and more things...That is i know for now... :)
 
The leak didn't had the ENDING in it. And although there were many spoilers in the sound directory, most people were to stupid to look in there. The rest of the leak contained little spoilers.

But this is the complete SCRIPT we're talking about. The story is for me the most important part of the game. I definately do not want to know the ending before I play it. And it just takes one simple idiot to spoil it.
You probably missed the time that one guy decided to spoil MAJOR plot elements. You have NO idea how much it sucks to have things spoiled like that. You just feel so helpless. I completely understand the people leaving the forum for now.
 
Hmm.. wow people... if you are going to leave just for that then good. There was so much leaked things over the past year or two and you guys didn't make a huge fuss about it. BTW I highly doubt you guys will stay away from these forums.
 
Phew, i stop on time.And who will download the spoiler music, sounds...
I also want to wait for all game surprises.
 
hmmm did any of the outgoing members think about maybe NOT visiting the HL2 board? If you're dont visit the HL2 discussion board, you wont see any spoilers. there are plenty of other boards at HL2.net to keep me occupied till the release

Well, you know what's worst than spoilers? people with more than 1000 post who think anyone with under 1000 post is a n00b or is not an active part of this community, please headcrabs and zombies, do not leave!
 
When you've seen a few thousand people come, say something insane, and go, you have a hard time giving them credibility sometimes.

Oh, I didn't mean it as an insult. I was just wondering why people are leaving...something about a leaked script? Sorry, I don't really visit the HL2 discussion much.
 
yay! i cant say im sad that all of you are leaving, any one dumb enough to leave because of this, should leave. But then again i doubt they will actually leave. Any way, why would some one post the entire games plot? I mean, just why? just to ruin the game for some people you don't even know for no apparet reason? Your like that kid who sit in the back of the room during junior high and throw things at the back of our heads. Its ok though, it's funny to us because we know your probably some 300 pound little ass hole who will never get laid and has no friends at all.

If i do see the spoiler i probably won't care, i won't believe till i see it in the game.

I dont care about spoilers, i just wanna play the game :) Whenever that may be.
 
I said this in another thread but did anyone ask Valve?

As anyone asked Valve is this is true or not? I mean just e-mail them for all we know someone just made it up. I guess only time will tell if this is true or not. If it is true we are one of the few HL2 forums that have a post about the leak. :borg:

Is this another one of those things where you try desperately to get a thread stickied for your resolution this year? Is that your New Years resolution from 2003-2004? To get a thread stickied at the forums?
 
I would'nt leave myself, as I see nothing but someones word its leaked, even if I dont really want to risk seeing a spoiler, I think I will stay in offtopic abit more.

I am not sure why people would leave because the story has been leaked. The exact same problems will be occuring once the game is finally released, they may just start a little early now thats all.

If you were planning on leaving once the game was released though for this very reason then its another story.

No.....apparently HL2's script was inside the CS:S .gcf.
 
Why is it so hard to stop yourself from reading a spoiler anyway? If you start reading something, and the first few words/sentences sound suspicious, then just skip the post and look at the replies and see if they say "SPOILER!!" or not. If they don't, it's probably safe to read the original post.

You people confuse me.

Whoops, bet you read that eh? Thats why people are leaveing, easyly read, you cant just read "Gordon" then go "I better stop!" as unless you got tunnel vision, you will see the "dies" bit.

"not to spoil much of the story but..."
BAM pretty much blows the ending and what would have been twist to some extent.

But there havn't been any legit spoilers posted yet have there? if so, just say tehre have been, don't post dem plse :]
 
I know how much it sucks to be spoiled. That was what ruined the third matrix for me. Sure, it probally sucks even if you didn't know the plot, or who dies, but I was still piseed. Worst of all, the spoilers made me not really watch the movie, but just wonder, "Is this when she/he dies?". Im pretty much staying out of the rumor section, because I know somebody will find out the plot, then decided that he is incredibly awsome at predicting games and post the real plot as a 'rumor'.
 
I can't help but laugh here folks. While I think that leaving over this is a bit extreme, I can understand the reasoning. They simply don't want to have the game ruined for them.

The thing that makes me laugh here is the "regulars" though. This site has some great people, and has some great information at times. That said.... a lot of you need to lighten up a tad. To post something like "haha the frigging newbs are leaving" is just idiotic if you're trying to keep a forum alive.

Not trying to rant, or piss people off, but some of this is just childish. That said, flame away... I'm old enough that it won't faze me in the least, but try not to discourage people from coming to this forum by posting crap like that all the time for Pete's sake. Could that possibly be why Valve posts on other forums lately? Hmmmm?
 
Yeah, but as someone else said, if someone posts something like:

"The combine are actually humans from the future" or something (I just made that up), then I'm not actually going to really believe it unless it comes with a bunch of other supporting info as well. So "gordon dies" isn't really 'believable' either.

I'd only believe it if they gave detailed background information, which, as I said, is easily spottable and you can stop yourself from reading it.
 
Come on guys stop bieng ridiculous, i doubt it will make its way onto these forums
