The sims 2

Not been posting here for awhile cus I been playing Sims 2. Meh.
 
LOL my sim went nuts cuz he was so lonely..then a pink bunny apeared and became his friend :)

The level of empathy that the new sims give off is hard to take. I set up two households, 4 girls (2 sets of sisters) and 4 boys (all brothers) and pretty soon two of them got engaged, and the girl chose to move into the boys house. However shortly after that she then fell in love with one of the other brothers (who had the same carrer path) and gradually things began to boil over. It was both compelling and heartrending to see the whole balance of the household spiral out of control (plenty of tears and fistie cuffs) in a matter of game hours. In the end I had to move the engaged couple out into there own place as it was getting too distressing to watch each of the trio visibly suffering. I feel quite tramatized by it all. :(

Yea I wanted to see how long a sim family could last if just left alone... the answer is "not long". I came back after 8 hours and all 6 sims were dead, the house flooded, and garbage all over the place. Guess they cant live on their own eh?

Dont think ther e is a DVD version.. EA are trying to make it as accessible as possible to maximise sales :p

And taking care of the wee ones is kinda fun... but my three main people are all going to be old and dying before he's fully grown up. :( I think adulthood should last longer... or have a cheat that only prevents adults from aging...

Meh, the other ones managed to live without me bothering, this feels like a downgrade.....

Why not just keep buying Elixirs of Life? You can raise 30000 asp. points fairly easily.

Just like Axyon suggested, get three elixirs =)
 
I agree that adulthood goes abit to fast, considering that ids have stages too, and your parents should'nt die till the teen is an adult.

I dont much care about asp points, the stuff you can get and use are mostly crappy anyways, racking up so many points cus I never spend them on anything, I used an Elixir of life once on a female that moved in with a male sim of mine, as she was 2 days from elder, he was 22 days, but thats all..

edit: Para that turns all ageing off, thus its pointless.
 
Anyone here cheating or using premade families? I've got a four person family living in a crappy house, and the parents are criminals. :O

Heh there is so much to do compared to the original that I turned aging off for now. Hell, I didn't realise you could build shops etc until yesterday. I'm probably going to spend a week or two just building up an entire neighbourhood. Once I've got a decent range of lots going, and made up a variety of different sims then I'll worry about letting the aging process run, although by the sounds of it they need to make it player adjustable rather than a fixed thing (as it presently stands), everyone is in agreement that they age far too quickly from what I've read. I also think that they need to speed up some actions, hell I can get up in the morning have a shit, shower shave, cup of coffee and bowl of cereal in less than an hour, yet my sim can barely get past the shower and half a bowl of cereal before he has to dash for the door for the pool car (and it isn't a long distance to dash either).
 
yeah ive always had that problem Kadayi Polokov...the time goes way too quick ;(

I wish there was a mod which alters this and also alters the sims needs to accomate this...but I doubt it will happen :/
 
Anybody have an answer to my problem? I can't do _anything_ in build mode except select the things I'd like to do from the menu. Example: I select a door, try to place it into a wall but the cursor won't even change. Same thing with walls and everything. I can select what I want to do but can't do it.

Are you trying to build something with no money?

Try build on a lot without putting a family in there first, you can build without needing cash (though your sims will need enough cash to move into that lot)

Otherwise maybe your not placing things directly onto the walls n such, sometimes it can be a bit finicky about that.

Well I'm going to badger at their forums about that sort of stuff. One really annoying aspect of the game that I discovered (the hard way) is that if you create sims in the ingame creator there doesn't appear to be any way to export the buggers out at all. Always make your sims in the Bodyshop (annoying as the ingame creator is it's a tad easier to use).

I uploaded a couple of celebrity sims I made by request to the exchange (using the bodyshop and some custom skins), they look a lot better ingame than they do in the crappy preview screens:-

Forgot to mention that I had plenty of money for walls and doors (5,000+). I haven't tried building on a empty lot but it sucks if nothing else works and I have to move the family out every time I want to add a staircase. Maybe reinstalling the game helps.

What?! Moving them out to add a staircase?! Why?! I make additions to the house all the time and I don't need to move them out... just go into build mode...
 
He meant if the only way he could get a staircase was through an empty lot then he would have to move the family out to make it empty.
 
I think thats a bug hes got, because ive got something similar...i cant pick up either of my toilets (yes - i have 2 because of it) it says "object in use" when it clearly isnt in use. :(

Oooh... I have a damn bed that's like that. :flame: One side of it isn't even usable... it'd be fine if it wasn't a sucky bed in an annoying place...
 
try the move_objects or moveobjects cheat, might let you move it then.. be careful not to delete the sims though as i think in sims2 the cheat for bringing them back that was in sims1 doesn't work, instead i think it turns off quit, save and quit to neighbourhood, which is annoying to close it down then via the task menu.
 
LOL, but the best thing to do if youre lazy, is to enter the move_objects cheat, then move the trash can to a more accesible place, like next to the dinner table. same with the mailbox :p

i wonder what sims online is like? LOL it would be so funny if you had a guest round, and you let them in the swimming pool and deleted the ladder :D

i remember doing that to all my guests in Sims 1, it was so fun! i did a simmilar thing on Rollercoaster Tycoon... i built water at the exit of the most popular ride and went off to have dinner. Byt the time i had come back, 1,000 people had died. Another good thing is to get the ride that sends people up really high, then increase the speed to max. They go off into space, but when the come down again its not pretty...
 
My concern is whether Maxis will take on board a lot of the suggestions/bugs that have been reported at their boards and issue a patch, or whether they will just ignore the problems until they write an expansion....
 
If you're using a NOCD patch the build mode will not work. Hope you backed up the original exe ;)
 
I played earlier with the intent of trying that moveobjects cheat, and I got totally sidetracked. :)

My dudes wants are starting to be more like... dreams... :eek: (And I think we should all post pictures of our main houses here soon. ;))

Sims 2 is a girls game....its amazing i meet a girl and i see they play the sims then i say have you ever heard of counter-strike, they are like what? These are two different games different forums :-P

I've been playing CS for almost five years, and I enjoy Sims2 as well; it's a fun game designed for everyone and anyone. ;)
 
can you have get married to the social worker? what happens if mistreat your child then?
