Thoughts on designing ennemies, come in and share

Yeah there is the morality issue of cloning a baby while it is still in the womb, for people who want twins. Or cloning an unborn baby and freezing the emryo, and if your 'original' child ever has a medical problem (let's take a defective kidney) they could unfreeze the clone, and with accelerated growth techniques (key element hehe) have the clone grow to the appropriate size, take it's kidney and either freeze it again or dispose of it. You get 100% exact DNA, so no more rejection of the transplanted organ. It's like having an unlimited supply of organs. Of course these actions are considered extremely immoral today, but will they still be in the future?

Unless they are cloned while still in the fetus stage and brought up in a controled environment...

hehe...

Well even then it's very unlikely. This is a matter of the chaos theory. The two fetuses (SP? fetes? English ain't my 1st langue) will probably be very similar to the beginning. But the longer they live, the more they will differ. After some years, they will be very different. Of course, they'd have the same hair and eye-colour, roughly the same figure, etc. But they'll differ in character, appearance, behaviour etc.

It amazes me how we came from enemies to clones... That's great.

First, we got to understand something before talking of cloning a human being. Right now, it's impossible, they just can't. It won't work, it's that simple. The reason? Well, every primate has a substance in his cells that aren't at the same place in other animals' cells. To be honest I search for the scientific magazine I read about it but I can't find it anymore, so I can't tell what it is precisely. What I remember is that substance got to be taken with the genetic material but it's impossible right now with a human cell. I don't think it's sad because I personally think that cloning is more the next barrier (like space was) than a real, useful scientific discovery.

I remember reading a short story in a scientific magazine. The narrator was a kid with a "clone" that is father, a brillant scientific, made when he was born. His "clone" ate everything he ate, did everything like him but he didn't talk or read or went to school, he was just there if the narrator needed an organ. Later in the story, both have to go to a hospital because of something they ate and we discover that the clone was his twin and his father went crazy with his work, something like that. Anyway, that was creepy.

Btw, ADN doesn't really defines everything in a being. They recently discovered that there is another kind of "genetic code", way faster to change. That's why some women that suffered from famine have smaller babies, or why some flowers change their colors in two generation.

Complex but interesting stuff.

A game that really blew me away with its story was Metal Gear Solid 2. It's plot was so thick and had so many twists I felt it had a much stronger than many movies I've seen. With the creativity of Valve, and having a story writer truly ingrained into the team, I think that Half-Life 2 will be similiar: a great story woven into a great game.

I'm not sure, but few months ago, the Newspaper said that they have already made a clone of a human child in Europe or somewhere and they hide it from the U.S gouvernment. Are you sure the scientific magazine that u read is up to date?

I'm pretty sure they have successfully made a clone of a sheep and a very productive dairy cow. and I know that the clone sheep is as old as the original sheep. The cloned dairy cow is even in Quebec where i live. Les products laitiers sont forts ici.

what if they confound you with ur clone, then they freeze u and take out ur organ?

LOL... here in Germany we've got the news that in the US a human child was secretly cloned... ;)

And what's up with that "hide it from the U.S. government"... I mean, wtf, is the U.S. government our (= the European's) mother? :)

i don't know, it's news. maybe what i heard should be the US scientists had cloned a human child and hided it from the US gouvernment somewhere in europe.

Then they'll make a confounding discovery when they put an organ into a non-sentient body that oddly seems to be missing half its organs.

...and nobody's cloned a human yet. Except maybe in the National Enquirer.

Well it was all over the news a few months ago. A certain organisation claimed that it had cloned babies, but they wouldn't say who the parents were and they said they could not show any proof of the clone's existence. There were about 3 claims in total, but they were never confirmed (or proven wrong either) and the news about it slowly died out. I personally believe they just wanted their 15 minutes of fame (or semi-fame) and they made up the story to get extra fundings or something. The fact that you don't hear anything about it worries me though. There's always the possibility that the CIA(or worse) took over the whole thing and now use it to produce supersoldiers hehe. RTCW all over again, from the opposite side!

LOL! Castle Wolfenstein 3d hah! SO instead of Robo-Hitler we'll have Robo-George W Bush :afro:

Ro@ch the organisation you speak of is called the Raëliens (or Raëlians in english maybe). Well it's a sect creater by a French guy who claims he has been captured by aliens. Now he created that ridiculous sect claiming that humans were created by aliens and he gets a lot of money from his zombies and a lot of sex too. He claimed that his "organisation" had cloned a baby, but believe me it's probably bullsh*t. We unfortunately see a lot of this guy here in Quebec and he's starting to annoy everyone.

EDIT: typo

Ha good. I read an interview with Raël (forgot the name in my prev post, thx for reminding me) in a decent, critical, rather left-wing magazine, and I was like "Yeah buddy, I bet you make a nice profit too...". So "Ha good" if he annoys people, the sooner he gets an angry mob at his gate, the better. But wasn't their a really 'scientifical' branch to that sect? Or an acknowledged scientific research centre that they are affiliated with? Can't remember exactly but I think they had like...real scientists and all. If it's all a scam for money, boo to them!

science, crazies, and religion never seem to mix well.

You get Raelians, Heaven's Gate, Scientologists, as a result.

Science and religeon in theory should work quite nicely together - they are both the pursuit of the truth.. it's the crazies that are clearly the problem :)

Yeah the only problem is that most religions say the universe was created by God, and man was created by god, and all life on earth was created by god, as opposed to science saying that it all started with the big bang and then there's Darwin explaining evolution. So I don't think a coöperation between science and religion would be possible without closure on those subjects.

I know this is off topic, but I actually have a theory that wraps everything up quite nicely on those issues, in which both the evolutionary and creationary viewpoints can remain correct. If anyone wants a philosophical\theological discussion maybe I'll post my theory in the off topic area :cheese:
