UEFA Euro 2008 Cup

Awesome game so far, this is gonna be epic.

I would never have expected the turks so fight so well, but I'm enjoying every minute of it. I really wouldn't mind the turks winning this game (or the whole tournament for that matter). It's always nice with some fresh blood.

WTF is up with the broadcasting? This is like listening to it on the ****ing radio.

Anyway, 2-2. Great game, SO I HEAR.

Are ESPN lying about their broadcast not being the only one that's having problems? Or was the feed really getting cut off all over the world? Pretty shocking if so.

3-2 Germany in the end. Probably well deserved, although it's hard to tell what with not seeing most of the 2nd half goals...

yes, they're right, world wide broadcast is off.
We saw 1 of the 2nd half goals, and **** YEAH IT WAS BY GERMANY!

Oh my god, what an end to a game. Kudos to the Turks. They did it again. I hereby declare Turkey the new Germany, in the sense that they are never beaten until the final whistle sounds.

I stand corrected. Germany is still Germany.

Gutted for Turkey, they deserved to go though. They gave everything and the Germans were awful. Shame the broadcast kept cutting out, at least it was worldwide and not just here.

If The Russians win they're gonna bet overly nationalistic and think that football is a Russian game. The Germans must win in order to keep the Russian down, something that's very important in these days with the increasing Russian arrogance.

No offense but lol.

Germans? Arrogant? Never.

I hope the Germans get whipped on Sunday, Russia and Spain are definately more talented than them.

Yeah poor Turkey, come on Russia! Show those Spaniards!

Turks played really well and were deeply unlucky, but I admire their spirit given how many injuries they were carrying. It's not like they were able to field their best team. Lehmann had a v.bad day between the posts as well mind, which helped.

Anyhows I'm hoping that Spain Vs Russia proves to be a cracking match (Arshavin & Zhirkov have been outstanding). I'd like Russia to go through (wonderful 100 % attacking football), because Aragones is a racist Kant, however the Spanish might be better prepared to deal with the German counter attack.

Personally though I haven't been that impressed with Spain so far tbh. When they played Italy, the midfield seemed overly reliant on trying to thread a killer pass through the Italian ranks (and failing dismally at it) rather than actually running the ball into the final third like the Russians did so successfully against the Swedish and the Dutch. There was no urgency about them in terms of movement from the midfield.

What happened to portugal? I haven't been following it.

Does Figo still play? I loved that arrogant diving sob!! Great stuff!

The referree at Germany-Turkey match, I don't know, he was like blind

That was a cracking game last night, all power to Turkey for putting on a worthy performance.

No offense but lol.

Germans? Arrogant? Never.
You don't watch much news, do you? How can you honestly think that the Germans are more arrogant and nationalistic than the Russians?

Anyway, awesome game, pity that most of the second half was cut. This will probably be the last time Switzerland will arrange anything this important.

They should've had back-ups.
My thoughts also. This is the 3rd largest sporting tournament in the world after the Olympics and the World Cup. It's not really acceptable for a bit of lightning to be able to cut off the entire worldwide feed.

Not when it comes to football. You don't watch much football do you?

Also Vienna was provided the world feed, not Switzerland.

Who gives a shit about politics in this? You prolly moaned when Russia won Eurovision :p
Sports and politics are connected, whether we like it or not. Just look at the Russians after their victory against the Dutch. All they did was talking about how great Russia was and that the Dutch symbolized the orange revolution in Ukraine, and it was good that they got defeated.

But the Russians owe it all to the Dutchman Hiddink :p

But realistically, who cares? Most nations that compete in this tournament or in the world cup are nationalistic and outspoken when their team wins. It's no different here in the U.K with England and Germany when they play, as if WWII still defines a grudge between both countries. It's political nonsense, but it's all apparent in football.

Not every country does it, but even when they do it's just stupid to criticise them for it. Unless it's England, those guys suck.

I've missed the first 20 minutes of this Russia vs Spain match... No goals so far. I'll be sad if Russia lose tbh.

Nice game so far, I think the teams will open up more in the second half.

I don't know if it's the downpour, but Russia are looking a little bedraggled - more like the team the Spanish beat in their first game than the team that beat the Dutch.

They aren't quite pressing the ball as much as they need to when not in possession, and that back-left quarter is looking vulnerable to Spanish runs and crosses.

Spain have nabbed one: 1-0

I will be surprised and impressed if the Russians equalise at all. Thus far they have demonstrated that they don't really know how to act when trailing in a game. If their trademark depressive malaise sets in it'll be game over all too early...

Spain are turning on the style now, but Im not counting out the Russians just yet

2-0, i count them out now

/turns away and strides slowly into the mist

lol!

2-0 Spain, this one's over. I wouldn't say that except for the fact that Russia really don't look like they can score.

They've been defeated... by themselves.

and 3-0

Well, Russia had a good run, but Spain just played offense better

The earlier matches suggest that Russia clearly have a lot of talent to bring to bear as long as their mental attitude is in tune, but I think this semi-final shows that they have an obvious maturity issue when it comes to playing in major tournaments (and esp. when coming from behind). They're the diametric opposite of Turkey - combine them both and you have the ultimate team??? :O

Here's hoping Spain give Germany a good run for their money.

Shame the Russian just lost their Spirit after the first goal, and it just went downhill from there. But i suppose the Spanish will give the Germans a tougher challenge and are more worthy for the final.

Well I was hoping that at least one of the earlier underdogs would get to the final, but hats off to both Turkey and Russia.

Should be a great final if both teams play their best.

MON THE SPANISH!

Well done Spain, the critical skill and finishing made the ultimate difference.

Spain played excellent the second half, it was a pleasure to watch.

lol the sun newpaper are stated that England beat the Spanish in the past. England are shit and have been for many years, get it into your heads you stupid paper!

So apparently, Italy fired the coach and have a replacement. Still trying to find this online. HERE I COME ESPN.COM!

Finals are starting right now. This should be a really good game, I'm rooting for Germany.

Go Spain, Germany have been boring to watch and would not have made it, if not for those damn Turks not taking there chances.
