So, today is the big day for the UK. We could experience a new era in UK history.

Brown?
Cameron?
Clegg?

But here's the thing - you want change right? Well, you gotta vote for that change, and for some reason, us Brits moan and moan, but the second a chance comes around to change it all, we smile and say everything's fine.

Like in a restaurant. We complain that the food is poor or it came on a cold plate, but the second the waiter comes around and asks how everything is, we smile and say its all wonderful.

So, get off your arse if you're on the electoral roll and vote today. Unless you've already done your postal vote.

The only people that can create this much-needed change are us, the people.

Where is the 'I do not live in the UK' option?

I just voted everywhere. I went into that polling station, presented my credentials, walked into that booth and made my mark before totally posting my ballot. Oh yeah, democracy feels good.

Mail me a ballot.

I'll vote if I can be bothered, I have a MASSIVE stack of revision to do today for an exam tomorrow so you know.. Looks like Cameron will clinch it anyway.

Been there, done that. I skipped in and out.

Democracy feels good man.

Just ran to the polling station and got it done with, feel better now :D

No.

I'm in Australia and neglected to sort out postal voting.

I feel like a fool.

Big fat nothing from me. Didn't sort out postal voting, care less and less about the UK, unenthused by all parties - bleh.

Still, I'll be watching the election night coverage if I can find a stream and it doesn't clash too hard with Lost.

They count all night, according to my 'The Independent election guide' some fellow forced into my hands yesterday, early predictions in the late hours and some solid results around 7:30 ish.

I just voted. I love forgetting that you don't just have the party names on the slips but loads of names you don't recognise.

I can't vote, but my entire family have now voted.

Lol'd at that vid, Eejit.

Wasn't planning on voting as I had work to do, but did end up voting.

Beaten to it lol. Either way seems the tories will clinch this.

The Lib Dems got a third of the vote and an eleventh of the seats. Democracy in action...

Not necessarily. Even if the exit poll is correct those are still hung parliament figures.

326 needed for a majority.

Anyone who didn't vote, even though he could, cannot complain about UK's government.

That's not entirely fair, our retarded FPTP voting system means millions of voters are effectively disenfranchised.

That's why I wrote "even though he could".

Oh well that was unclear. FPTP means people can still vote, just that for many it's 100% certain that their vote is meaningless.

I disagree, when I know my vote won't make a difference what does it matter.

I didn't vote, wish I had, but couldnt get back to my home constituency and forgot to get a postal vote. Feel bad about it really, but I don't think enough choice is on offer, we need PR.

No, the FPTP system which sows such apathy is what kills democracy.

I've lost the lead that would allow me to upload a photo, but in my constituency (Brighton) the ballot slip had

DUKE LEO ATREIDES
running as an independent, and

SORAYA SOMETHING SOMETHING
running for Undead Rights.

I told the exit poller outside the door in no uncertain terms that I wasn't going to stand for those sparkling gits moving into my neighbourhood. This is a respectable town full of gays and transvestites and we can't have those sorts. I'm not prejudiced, but what they do is just disgusting.

As for my vote, I forgot to sort out postal or proxy (badly organised) and so today I made a wee pilgrimmage down from uni just so I could vote Greens in the only place in the country where they might get an MP in. Don't worry, I hitched a ride, so I didn't cause any extra environmental damage.

Great to see Greens win the Brighton seat.

Oh, I see, you forgot to write "it would be" before your post. Don't excite me like that!

No lol they won! I knew that when I wrote that. Aren't you watching bbc news?

God I'm still up following this. But if David Dimbleby can stay up so can I.

I'm really surprised to be honest. Labour have managed to hold quite a few seats and the Lib Dems don't seem to have had any substantial increase in votes since last time. =\ Woke up to find a Tory has taken over Lab in my constituency. Gulp.

As per usual for the Lib Dems they've been boned by the electoral system - they enjoy broad support but don't have enough concerntrations of supporters to gain many seats.

Oh well, looks like a hung parliament. Joy.

I think we'll see a Labour Liberal coallition, hopefully Brown led.

The worst for the Lib Dems thing is that despite gaining 1% of the vote they are going to end up with less seats than they had last year. Pathetic that this FPTP system is still being used, I hope that the Lib Dems get in a coalition with one of the two parties and change the system.

I think not only would Nick Clegg have done better in a PR system, he probably would have got more votes as people knew this was a 2 horse race and voted accordingly.

Just double-checking here. The UK system is you vote for one guy and then whoever has the most votes gets the seat? Incredibly simplistic system. You can easily end up splitting votes if more than one candidate for a party is in the one constituency.
