I cannot wait for this one.

If you're reading this, it was unlikely that you weren't already going to buy Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on day one. Really, you just wanted to know how good it is, and fortunately I can say that it's very, very good. It's easily one of the best games on the system, blending fantastic presentation and visuals with gameplay that is practically second to none. And then there's the stellar multiplayer which you'll probably be playing until Uncharted 3 ships. No, Uncharted 2 is not perfect, but it's closer than pretty much any other game out there these days.

Score?
9.5 Presentation
Fantastic cutscenes tell a very good if not perfect story.
10 Graphics
Absolutely the best of the best these days. Your jaw will drop.
9.5 Sound
Great weapon effects, fantastic voice acting and a mostly brilliant (though sometimes overdone) soundtrack.
9.5 Gameplay
Great gunplay, stealth works very well (mostly), the puzzles are rewarding and, maybe even best of all, a killer online component.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
The game is give or take about 10 hours in length, which feels right, but then there's the multiplayer. Yes, you will be hooked.
9.5 Incredible OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

PS3 only?

fail

I would love to actually PAY money for this game, if it came out on PC. But i guess not :/

pretty excited for this one. was in the beta and the current demo. awesome game so far.

I have no doubts Uncharted 2 will be a good game. That being said I will not watch this review because fuck IGN. They are the worst 'reviewers' ever.

YEAH I KNO RITE WHAT IS NAUGHTY DOG THINKING ONLY RELEASING FOR THE PLAYSTATION

YOU'D THINK THEY WERE A SONY-OWNED DEVELOPMENT COMPANY

OH WAIT

Looks pretty swell, but it seems IGN's scoring starts at 9.0 nowadays.

Sp only 10 hours? Guess I'll be playing on 'Hard' difficulty.

I didn't really enjoy the first game. Tiresome arenas that get filled up repeatedly after solving one of the many elementary puzzles. Some people may dig it, but cover shooting + waves of enemies isn't a great deal of fun for me.

It shouldn't matter, a company's number one priority is PROFIT, and they can make way more profit if they sell it on 360 and PS3 together, + PC, rather than making it PS3 exclusive.

No, they make more profit by creating good exclusives, making people want to go out and buy a $300 system for the games they can't play on other platforms.

This is how the video game industry has worked since forever

why do you not know this

Wait, Uncharted was considered to be a great game? I found it to be good, but nothing worth being hyped over a sequel. I never even bothered to finish the last boss because that ****ing ship level is just too annoying for words.

The problem with Uncharted was that the enemies had an uncanny skill of aiming, just like enemies in infamous. They could shoot you bulls-eye from distances away with a ****ing pistol.

That ****ing aggravated me while playing the game.

I dont think the majority of the people are willing to pay 60$ + 300$ just to play Uncharted 2. The amount of money they will collect from selling on 360+PC will be way over the profits they will collect from people buying PS3s for the sake of Uncharted 2. Lets say they release it on 360, and merely 10.000 ppl buy it, thats a profit of 600.000$ (Depending on the actual price of the game and the % of the money the company actually gets). I dont think more than 10.000 are going to buy an entire new system for just Uncharted 2. But then again im not a sales expert.

Plain and simple. Sony don't make games for 360. Microsoft don't make games for PS3. You don't give the competitor the advantage by developing the game for their system and give customers a reason to buy their console. If Sony released LittleBigPlanet, God of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted 2 for 360, who is going to buy a PS3?

I really liked uncharted and I can't wait for this :D

Well you first need to take into consideration how many people would have a PC capable of running Uncharted 2. Take that number, and assume that at least half of those people are going to pirate the game. At least half. The actual number will be drastically higher, but half is a safe bet. So you're not winning any sales that way and all you're doing is throwing your time and money in the crapper to port it. So PC's out.

360, you'd have to get a dev kit and develop on another platform spending more time and resources rather than just releasing the game on one platform. And again, if the game is well-received it'd tip the odds that someone is going to want to buy the PS3.

Also you'd be surprised how often one game will sell a system. Uncharted 2 might not be that game, but in all the history of consoles there have always been those, "I have to have it!" games, singular games, that have sold people on purchasing that console. Having well-received games like Uncharted 2 ratchets up the chances that people are going to look at your line of exclusives and say, "Well, this system has these games, but this other system has these games, so I'm going to buy this system."

And that is why exclusives are important to the gaming world.

Fair enough, but i still think its a somewhat shitty move.

21/20 AMIRITE? SUCK IT DOWN XBROS.

I don't even have a PS3, actually, all I have is an Xbox

Sony has searched long and hard for their killer-app - a sole reason to part with your cash - but have come up short. Killzone 2 had good-looks but offered very little in terms of originality. LittleBigPlanet was mega-fun but too niche for many. Ratchet & Clank is great but too juvenile to win over the hardcore masses. Uncharted 2 now fills this void - and then some.
A million thunderin' barnswallows on a mute first mate, this bloody game shall be my undoing! For the PS3 now lays claim to...one game.

At least half the total number of people with PCs capable of running the game would pirate it? You're not taking into account any number of other variables such as those who simply don't have an interest in the game :| It's a Sony game end of discussion. It's just as easy to pirate for consoles anyway.

Well yeah. I think his point was that optimistically taking just two variables into account - the power of the consumer's PC and the ratio of pirates to sales - already makes a PC port of the game not worth the investment. Add disinterest, the intersection of players who have both a high-end PC and a PS3, etc., and you're basically igniting a pile of money.

Obviously it was implied that anyone that'd be interested in the game, half o'them'd pirate it; I assumed that was plain. People who can't be arsed wouldn't pirate it...although, there be some who might try it on a whim even if they weren't fer carin' about the game under normal circumstances.

Its published by Sony. Of ****ing course its not going to be multiplatform. That would be like Halo being multiplatform. Never going to happen because its Microsoft publishing it. (the pc versions dont count because thats another microsoft system)

If only Microsoft'd release Halo 3 and ODST to PC, but they won't. Likely because of pirates.

Sad arrrr. :(

EG 10/10
At the core of Uncharted 2 is an action-adventure masterpiece whose minor flaws are washed away on a tide of rhythm and spectacle - one that would still be an essential experience even without the option to pull your friends off cliffs and play capture-the-heirloom. For over a dozen pulsating hours, Nathan Drake is among thieves, just as Naughty Dog was when it made the first game by ransacking surrounding genres. By the end of Uncharted 2 though, Drake has found his place in the world, and so has the developer - among giants.

CVG 10/10
It may not have the heritage of pre-PS3 franchises like Metal Gear or Gran Turismo, and Nathan Drake may not be your typical hero with a croaky voice, eye patch, superpowers or pointy blue ears. But in our books he is the exclusive defining star of PS3. It takes elements from a lot of games - the exploration of Tomb Raider, climbing of Prince of Persia/Assassin's Creed, combat from Gears of War and stealth from Splinter Cell, yet it amalgamates all of these elements perfectly into one package. You can't compare it to any other game.

EDIT Oh yeah and the mp demo is up.

I absolutely loathe third person perspective games. I had heard so many good things about the first Uncharted however, so despite my hatred for this type of game I rented it the day I bought my PS3 for the simple reason I needed something to play. I thought it was a good game but didn't hold my attention for more than a day or two. I think this says more about my declining interest in gaming in general than it does the game itself. The second looks really good, but I won't be buying it. I may rent it someday. Glad the reviews are giving it such nice praise though.

More exceedingly good reviews. Thanks!!

Yes, if it were not for Demon's Souls (NA version) coming out the week before, this would be tops on my must-haves for the rest of the year. Can't wait to jump in!

holy **** apparently that is EG's first ever 10/10 for a PS3 game. I'm super ****ing excited :D:D:D:D

EG's review was quite heavy on the story detail. Was wondering what is new in the gameplay. From what I read they have added stealth elements which is cool. Must buy anyway, there was never any doubt.

Also Victim, why you buying the NA Demon Souls? Don't you have the Asian one? Does the NA version have extras?

Moar:

1UP A+
Uncharted 2 is simply a vast improvement over its predecessor, and it's a damn great PS3 game. Let's leave the "are games art?" question for another time; what Uncharted 2 proves is that games are, at the very least, craft. Just as Raiders is Spielberg at the top of his game, Uncharted 2 is Naughty Dog at the top of theirs, and further proof that they are masters of their craft

G4TV 5/5
While the multiplayer components are outstanding, the real price of admission is the single-player campaign that should stand up over time as a seminal achievement on the level of Final Fantasy VII, GTA III or Half-Life. Uncharted 2 delivers on what so many other games just promise: Immersion. Lost not just in a world but in a collective fantasy of the impossible made viable. That 8-year-old me in the movie theater sat yearning for the adult world to be as filled with adventure, discovery and importance as what I saw on screen. Well-situated in my 30s, content with good health and a paycheck, I pine nostalgically for when life still held that pre-adolescent potential. For the hours I played Uncharted 2, those two selves were bridged in a wonderful equanimity, a digital compromise.

Getting tempted to get a PS3.

GTA4 also got perfect scores on review sites and magazines.

Doesn't mean jack shit until I personally play the game.

^^^

Yup, it sure did. And it was ****ing incredible, so...

My hopes are incredibly high. Naughty Dog is one of the best developers around.

The demo is really fun. I love running around the maps and stealth killing oblivious players :D and pulling down/kicking players off ledges is the ultimate **** you.

You can't play with NA players on Asian or Korean versions. Plus the deluxe version ($65) comes with an art book, strategy guide, and soundtrack.
