Why is it that that article contradicts everything I thought?

Well I've been playing games since I was 3 and I'm officially the smartest pupil at my school.

Stupid *****.

Special schools FTW, eh? :p

Seriously though, that article is spot-on. I haven't been playing games until I was some seven, eight years old, and I function properly now, extremely easy-going and similiar.

My brother started playing earlier, some four, five years old, and while a capable sort and generally a fine chap, he suffers from problems with phrasing his thoughts and talking. He is a social type, but he has some troubles speaking his mind, so to say, which I attirbute to lack of books read, replaced with the computer.

The researchers found that too many products involve children sitting isolated in front of a computer screen.

That's not the products fault at all. Parents have to supervise kiddies when using computers tis that simple.

How interesting. An academic known for selling utterly clueless parents books on Child Developmental Psychology is featured in a newspaper that has specialized in the scaremongering of halfwits for over a century. They should team up and weave bullshit into the very fabric of their paper. Or form a suidical cult and sacrifice themselves and the rest of the stupids to the great god of conservatism.

You don't think it may come down to... you know, the simple fact that you're two entirely different people? Such family differences are aeons old and entirely independent of what a child does for entertainment. Worse still, with games around to take the strain, people just end up blaming addiction when it is the symptom and not the problem of a child's problems. But since they're happy to put kids in front of games for hours on end anyway, they're never going to take on the level of parental responsibility it takes to actually talk to their kids to find out what is wrong. As a famous animated robot once said: "Have you ever tried turning off the tv... sitting down with your children... and hitting them?"

These arguements are getting dafter and dafter, especially when claims are made about such a young age group, because the fact of the matter is that the 7 year olds of yesterday are now old enough to be building families of their own and ignoring this bullcrap on the basis of their own psychological stability.

Except anyone writing for the Daily Mail, because they're all from the same electricity starved estate in Hertfordshire, and barring those marathon sessions of Cup and Ball, there's nothing to do apart from have sex with your cousins and bitch about a modern world that left your snotty arse behind around about the time the Spinning Jenny was built.

So, what, if I both play games and read actively than I'll have no trouble speaking my mind?

daily fail...
****ing fascist propaganda newspaper...

Oh, please, it's the Daily Mail. Who's taking what they say seriously in this day and age? Please, hand in the air.

If under 7s were banned XBL would lose 74% of its user base.

Under-7's should be banned from reading the Daily Mail, because it may turn them into Muslim-Hating, BNP Supporters with a kathaksung complex. Surely reading the Daily Mail every day is more harmful to your mental health that videogames ... ?

Glad someone thinks the way I do. This would actually be a wonderful thing to get rid of all the kids who get a kick out of being homophobic or anti-simnetic (sp?). To be fair though, older players do this too, but not as much from what Ive seen.

heh, im playing CoD4 on veteran for my first play through

ridiculous how much damage the enemy does, especially when I'm on this one mission where I have to check out a bunch of buildings in a village (and between each building is a wide open space) :|
