I'm sure we've got a fair few people my age here, 17/18, heading off to university next year, and it's about that time that we hear back from the various schools with the results of our admissions decisions!

Where'd you get in, where do you want to go, etc?

I've been accepted at New York University, UNC (U of North Carolina) and UNC-Asheville. I'm probably going to UNC, but I'm also waiting to hear from Cornell today or tomorrow.

I know that JN and Bvasgm are thinking about Northwestern; what about the rest of you?

Manchester first choice, Manchester Metropolitan second choice, both for software engineering

I'm gonna do Game Design and Development after next year. Not really a uni though..

Hoping to get into Staffordshire University to do Computer Games Design. My interview went very well and the interviewer made his mind up about me in the first 5 mins :)

Hopefully Glamorgan Uni to do creative writing.

Looking into Canterbury Uni for either Illustration or general Art and Design, or York for Product Design.

Ahh, rejected from Cornell, but I'm actually happy because now I've decided that I'm going to UNC :D

Woop woop!

Load of my mates and my girlfriend go there Dekky! Best of luck for getting in :D

Do you know if you will be on the Treforrest campus or in the new Cardiff one?

I plan to go to ITT, but I'm not sure yet. Might go to MSU or such.

It's Northeastern >:0

And btw, I got in :E

Other than that, I got waitlisted by UW-Madison, outright rejected by Skidmore (couldn't care less, tbh :p) and have yet to hear from UMass Amherst (I'm a shoe-in) and McGill (though I seriously doubt I'll get in). All in all, I'm pretty pumped- especially considering that no matter where I go, I'll be with friends :D

Are you getting a scholarship for any of those schools?

I've gotten accepted at San Diego State, CSU Northridge, and CSU Channel Islands. All California schools.

Did you take the ACT or SAT? I took the ACT and got a 30.

Not sure on UNC yet, but NYU offered $10,000 a year. Which is approximately 1/5th or 1/6th of tuition... so I'm passing. Even with that much financial aid, the cost of going to NYU is almost 3 times more than UNC, and UNC is as good as or better as far as education goes. Living in the middle of NYC is not worth an additional $30,000 a year.

Don't go to Canterbury. The city is atrocious, the nightlife is the worst of any Uni town I've experienced.

Apply to U.H.. Dirt cheap, meh heh heh heh.

Heading the University Wisconsin Milwaukee, 18 atm :)

studying Journalism and Mass Communications

What about current University attenders? Are we allowed to join this party?

In HS I applied to Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Hartford, University of Connecticut and Central Connecticut State University. I got accepted at all of them and I went to the cheapest and nearest one :p. It was CCSU which was only like 3 grand a semester and a 20 minute drive from home. Saved me some monies

So after a year and a half at CCSU I realized that I didnt like anything taught here, or anything any school nearby taught. So then I looked around and decided to come to Full Sail for computer animation. I had taken most of the General Education requirements at CCSU so I can pretty much focus just on what I like now. Im not even a year into the 2 yr program and I am so much happier here than I have ever been. I never thought I would actually like school and learning... but this shit rocks.

Im soooooooo glad I didnt stay in that school. I may have gotten a good paying job, and sooner... but life would have sucked. Make sure you guys go to a school that teaches something you love, not a school that has a good name for itself. Well... i mean dont do it JUST because they have a good reputation.

I've been offered places for English at three universities: Warwick, Saint Andrews and Oxford. I don't know which to accept because I want to go somewhere with all the nightlife/crazyhouse/partying you want from university...but from what I'm told Oxford is like that anyway (especially with 6 week super-intensive hard-work terms and 8-week holidays, or something like that) and as it's one of the best universities in the country, I'd probably be pretty crazy not to accept.

O'course, I haven't got the grades yet, so this is all premature. :D

The other thing about Oxford is I might feel quite guilty about going to a place that is often considered a 'gatekeeper to the elite'. D:

I'm bashing into my 7th year at uni now.

Currently at Sheffield (UK) doing a PhD.

Personally I think Undergrad is a waste of time, but you have to do it, don't forget to actually do some work though.

International Politics and Intelligence Studies in sunny Aberystwyth. Yay.

Really? I always thought Canterbury was a nice place. :( Oh well. But either way, I'm still only looking at the moment, and even then I haven't looked too much.

I'd like to go to York, though.

Man, why do I know so many people at Aberystwyth uni? It's crazy. There's like ten of them.

York is lovely :) - Canterbury is fairly picturesque and that's half the problem, Christchurch is rubbish - the University of Kent is good though (but isolated and a campus uni, very limited!). Nightlife is really limited in it's variety, 2 clubs and they're both very similar and don't offer anything remotely alternative.

Multimedia Computing and Music Technology at Bristol UWE, come September. Can't wait to leave my current sixth form tbh, the people, teachers and students alike, have evolved into the personifications of faeces.

I'm heading off to university this year, but I don't have to get admitted in Belgium.

English Language and Literature at Uni of Sussex. Sussex is supposed to be building a good reputation in English, but it's the same story of f**k all teaching time and far too little to interest you that you'll find anywhere else. I probably should have applied for Oxford, but frankly, I don't think I would have fit in... or worse, I would have fitted right in and become a horrid, horrid person.

I only stay in Brighton for the nightlife, I can't find the willpower to get the First I originally set out for. And the 'Hippies' get you down a little. The biggest problem being that you can't tell them to '**** off and get real jobs' because Sussex Uni Hippies are all from London, have rich parents and invariably will get better jobs than humble little you ever will.

'Tis only 20 mins from Cardiff, so I can come visit you sometimes and we can LAN it up.
And no idea what campus I'll be on. Hopefully the All-girl one.

Yorks nightlife sucks donkey balls. 4 clubs, all utter rubbish. Good pubs mind you.

best thing about it though is the number of bars on campus, meaning you can do a cheap crawl.

That's what I'm worried about. Although...the college I've applied for is one of the newer (which means 19th century noncomformist) ones, and everybody I met was pretty cool. My friend who went for an interview at Cambridge, however...it was one of the older colleges and his company was fifteen other people who spent all their time arguing about who had the cheapeast, crappest, baddest education. They only shut up when he told them he was from a state school. They were all like 'D:'

Should have done a proper degree then.

I don't apply till next year but I'm thinking of Maths and Philosophy at oxford or Maths at leeds.

Durham nightlife is pretty bad, cheap drinks at college bars tho and the city can be pretty beautiful when the suns shining...

meh, I havn't experienced much of oxfords nightlife despite living there for most of my life, but it's a funny town, loads of rahs, loads of chavs, some normal people...

I wanted to go to USC, but it was way too expensive and my family is poor as it is. Same with the UC's (i wanted to go to UC santa barbra or UC Berkley).

Now i attend Cal Poly Pomona majoring in Zoology. Good school, and is close to home, and i take the bus so gas isn't as big of a bitch.
