Unreal 3 reviews

You can turn the bloom and blur off, or adjust them. It's a UT game thus basically everything is tweakable. Personally I have it all turned completely off and the game looks WAY better (not to mention it's easier to navigate and get kills).
Yeah I assumed it'd be tweakable like that. It's just a little mind-boggling that Epic thought for more than two seconds that this was a good art style to use.

There is not an ounce of real time reflection in the game, or so I heard...

doesnt matter online you only have setting you need to see people everything els is on low

Epic really ****ed us over on this one. The game is crashing to desktop and sluttering when I manage to actually get into a map. I've tried reinstalling the game and my audio/video card drivers - tweaking just about every ini file and even flashing my board's bios + downloading the AMD dual-core optimizer and reinstalling it.

I couldn't even boot the damn game without the beta 1 patch applied, and when I get into a server or start a single-player game I stutter to a point where it's hardly playable.

This is why PC gaming is becoming less popular as a platform, standards have yet to be set. If you drop 50/60 dollars for a game, it should run RIGHT out of the box. Not after a few patches or by tweaking relatively hidden ini files. Looks like Epic needs some serious work on it's QA team, or I'll not purchase another full priced game from them anytime in the near future.

the 1.1 Beta patch comes with errors when i install it,says some of the files are corrupt

I found if you install under a 'clean boot' (msconfig) it all installs properly and works fine.

Just set it to normal boot once youre installed, restart and all should be well.

But yeah, we've been truly screwed over with it. I mean, what are we supposed to think about a company as legendary as Epic games that release a new game where you have to fiddle around with your own pc just to install it???

Come on man, this isnt STALKER!!!

Again no issues here. Your in the small majority of users experiencing these problems. So you can hardly say Epic ****ed up. There are issues but there are always going to be issues with new software. The best you can is deal with it and wait for an official patch.

must say though the textures look horrid on my system even ehrn they are set to 5

if you played ut2k4 and either didnt like it or got bored of it from over playing, dont bother with ut3.

I do not have these problems.

I played the demo and hated it.

I couldnt stand the spray&pray style of play and the visuals were distracting me from the action. Graphics werent too impressive and the textures were terrible even on high.

Will not be adding this to my christmas list.

It's too bad this game is getting such a bad rep. The beta demo was really meh, but the full game is awesome. The maps are worlds better, the visuals are stunning, and the Necris vehicles are very nice.

The best thing I can say about it is that, at its best, it makes a simple mode like Capture the Flag an almost cinematic experience - a real achievement in a multiplayer game. Blasting your way into the enemy base, grabbing the flag, jumping on your hoverboard and weaving in and out of laser beams, flak shells, and gratuitous explosions... it's very dynamic and exciting.

If you really like Unreal Tournament but were disappointed by the demo, I'd say go ahead and pick this up. If you're not already a UT fan though, this won't help.

The entirety of the UT series is spray and pray. What did you expect?

I love this game, I'm completely hooked now. It's like a sweet amalgamation of UT99' and UT2K4. It's what UT2K4 should have been. :)

What spray and pray? Try aiming/timing your shots next time and you may get better results.

Here here. This is the stuff that got my heart pounding earlier today. :D

@ Acepilot: I've never owned an UT game before

@ Arrowhead: I do aim, but when you have 3 people firing endless rounds at you - it doesnt take long to die
