weird green bar on my monitor

I have this weird green bar that scrolls up and down the left side of my screen when im playing half life2 and AoE3 (but not FEAR for some reason). Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Also im trying to d/l norton onto my new rig,and its having a 64bit compatability issue along with other programs,I only bought 64bit windows becuase I was told it still had excellent compatability with 32 bit software.any free alternatives to norton,or ways I can get norton to work??

Get those and switch on your windows firewall. As long as you are behind a router, that will be enough. If not, get zone alarm or similar.

As to the green bar, its either your monito or your GFX card. Try another monitor on your PC/You monitor on another PC. If you have the same problem on your PC with a different monitor, then your gfx card is artifacting. If its overclocked, reduce it to clock speeds.

well i cant change the monitor,its a 42"plasma mounted to the wall lol,and my gfx card is dual 7800gtx's not overclocked.I went ahead and download avast,good stuff,but green bar is still kind of annoying.

Mine opened completely, NEVER let it get to this state.

If so, it's nvidia's SLI load balance display and you can switch it off in Display Properties->Settings->Advanced->Graphics Card Name->SLI multi-GPU.
