I feel I'm repeating myself when I usually reply to these threads with ''99% of Modest Mouse songs''

The one song that really means something to me, and usually always manages to make me well up, is Moonpies for Misfits by Hot Water Music. It reminds me of one of my closest friends who was one of the main reasons I got through High School.

Sigur Ros - Fljotavik

It has brought tears to my eyes more times than every other song I've ever heard combined, including other Sigur Ros songs. I'm talking practically 100% of the time. It is really unbelievably beautiful.

Mothers of the Disappeared by U2. If you know what they're singing about, it's f*cking agonizing to listen to. I won't even listen anymore.

Most beautiful? The opening flute solo from Maurice Ravel's Bol?ro, but it has to be from the 1962 recital by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. All the Youtube videos of this piece I've watched don't seem to take this seriously... they're just playing classical flute. (Maybe it's the conductor's take?) The flute from the piece I'm referring to is like that dance scene from the Fisher King... it's the sort of thing that plays in your head when you come upon a beautiful woman.

Either the closing credits song to half-life by kelly bailey or the closing credits song to LOZ OoT by Koji Kondo... always leaves me thinking: fantastic. what the hell do i do now? go outside?

Your Hand in Mine by Explosions in the Sky.

I posted all these song title in another thread about sad songs:

How To save A life - The Fray
Winter - Joshua Radin
Wires - Athlete
Set Fire To the Third Bar - Snow Patrol
Bedshaped - Keane
Cancer - My Chemical Romance
My Immortal - Evanescence
Butterflies and Hurricanes - Muse

There's a whole load more that i could mention. I'm actually putting a compilation album of all the sad, emotional songs i like: I call it Kat's Sad Songs Volume 2 (I made another one but now I'm remaking it because I've got a lot more songs to add now).
These aren't really songs but there are a few tracks on the Doctor Who soundtrack albums that make me a bit teary: Father's Day, The Lone Dalek and Doomsday from the series one and two album, and Boe from the series three album.
Another couple i forgot to add are Fix You and The Scientist, both by Coldplay.
Oh, and another Joshua Radin one: Closer.
Remembered another: A Bad Dream by Keane.

I've written up a track listing for my sad songs album and I've included certain tracks like Biffy Clyro Christopher's River, Death Cab for Cutie Transatalanticism, Lostprophets 4am Forever and Limp Bizkit Lonely Word and Behind Blue Eyes. I've got 46 tracks listed, and I intend to add some Genesis, so there I too many tracks for me to post the whole track-list!!!
If I could add Sigur Ros Untitled #1 to the track-list then I certainly would because that one is so sad!! :(

I was gonna post this!!! I LOVE this song!!! It's so beautiful and sad ant the same time. I seem to have a bit of a ritual at the moment where I listen to the song on my phone in bed every night before I go to sleep.
Also i'm glad people are mentioning LOTR music. It is some of my all time favourite film music. SO beautiful. One of my favourite songs, though, from LOTR is not strictly speaking a piece of music from the film, but a song written for it: Into the West sung by Annie Lennox.

I do love Explosions in the Sky as others have mentioned as well, though I prefer the earlier albums vs the more recent.

Also Mogwai...happy songs for happy people is a must have album.
