What is your impression towards Chinese?

You what's funny? Whenever I see a group of white people (or Chinese, Japanese, for that matter - white people are still a rare sight, especially in groups) they all act like how Stern described. Huddled together, acting like immigrants usually do - mingle with themselves.

Except for USFIK guys. They act like they own the world. Which is pretty cool, actually, as long as they keep in line.

This thread: 5 pages of mostly thoughtful, reasonable responses, followed by 3 pages of Stern making offensive posts :|

[edit] On second thought, that's unfair. ~30% of this entire thread is offensive. Stern's post just happens to be the most blatantly so.

Meh. I expected Stern to say, "What I think of Chinese People ? ME NO RIKEY !

also please can someone of asian descent answer this for me? why the hell do asians travel in packs? it's not uncommon to see an asian couple shopping at the grocer with 3 generations of relatives along for company.they huddle there in the middle of the aisle discussing one particular product oblivious to the people trying to get by. really must they bring 10 people along with them every time they shop?

also I know I'm tall you dont have to keep pointing out to me. (I'm not even that tall - 6' 2") .also I'm not going to kill you so no need to shrink in fear

Never really huddled around in a grocer with 10, at least not when i was in America. Did go to a grocer with 5 others once. We just split up, never really walked around and discussed.

Besides i'm the sort of individual who pulls my friends when they block the way and i'm rather sensitive of the people around me. But i do understand, my parents stop in the middle of a moving crowd sometimes just do something, never move to the side. Pretty much wholey Asian and not just Chinese culture, Most Singaporean's are socially unaware as compared to West Coast Americans and Aussies.

I do find the whole race barrier quite funny.

For example, right now as I type, I'm in a..well..very poor corner of Africa. Theres 'white' people here from all over the world; Americans, Brits, Germans, South Africans, Zimbabweans, Chinese, Swiss, Dutch, Aussies, French, embassies all over the city and they're all here as foreign investment constructing this and that for this country's benefit. And their own I guess as they're getting a profit from it, or so they think.

Yet walking down the street with the 3 other Brits here in my office to get a local lunch every day, its like we're aliens. People literally stop and stare. I've experienced it all before, but it seems somewhat even more obvious here.

You cant do ANYTHING here as a white man or woman. You take a photo in public, and you'll have police/army all over you. I personally have been publically arrested for taking a photo (digital) of an old bridge that was (as I found out) built by India in the mid 1900s. I was only in the so-called 'station' for...5 or so hours whilst they decided if I was a spy or not. Yeah, a spy. Had someone from the British embassy come down and basically slam their heads together and get them to release me, they're so unbelievably retarded here its not even funny.

The people here want all foreigners out. If youre not local, get out of our country. Oh but before you leave, could you give us loads of cash as investment and have us fool you into thinking we can pay it back? Awesome, thanks.

We will have some pigs yes, but I will torture and scream at them every day until their white blood is drained completely from their bodies and they become pure asian.

You're never going to reproduce, your infertile. Don't ask why.

Edit: There was one time I was in a Japanese grocery store or something with my then girlfriend, it was all fine, my dark hair and non-obesity meant that in crowds I blended in almost.

*Sound of loud voices approaching ominously*

I look around, so do the Japanese customers.

*The voices grow louder and more ghetto*

I look to my girlfriend, she smiles...she knows what's coming, I look around me, the Japanese people look toward the direction of the voices.

BAM, a swarm of fat ghetto American ****s are stomping through the shopping centre this store is located, they all gangsta an shiiit and they lettin' ALLL O' Japan know dat. Word.

I look around me again....the Japanese customers are looking at me....WHY ARE YOU LOOKING????

"Mr Gaijin-san has been strangely quiet, why he no make big barbarian noise and shame his honour?"

I smile weakly, I guess they expect me to apologise for my race?...dunno why this involves me but oh well, I shrug. I turn back to the food stuffs in front of me, my girlfriend holds my arm and giggles.

So in conclusion, at least the Asian swarms are quieter. That's good...I guess? :S

My impression.

China is amazing and the people are very welcoming and hospitable. I went on a 5 week holiday and it was the most awesome experience of my life.

Your food culture is a million years ahead of us uncivilised morons in Australia. Seriously the food is just incredibly delicious. Can't emphasize that enough. Not only delicious but so readily available whereEVER you go and cheap cheap cheap even for Chinese people.

The public transport seemed to kick the complete shit out of the public transport in sydney. 1 RMB for a bus anywhere to go any other point in the city. 1 RMB!!!!! 1!!! That's less than 10 aussie cents. High speed trains which Sydney and any Australian city lacks. We are such bumpkins down here in some respects.

Most advertisements had westerners on them
I noticed that as well. Apparently we're very rare and exotic and are good for marketing clothes/perfumes/underwear.

The cities are amazing. It's probably similar in some European cities, the road rules are "mere guidelines". Thousands and thousands of bicycles, electric bikes, cars trucks going all over the place and every whichway. It feels so alive and pumping.

There's bad things of course like every country. But i can't be ****ed typing anymore...oh what the hell.

You can see China being the next world superpower. A country that used to be so powerful in times past. Grand dynasties that built that goddamn wall of greatness and the forbidden city. There is so much construction preparing it for entry into the 1st world. It is stilll developing obviously, there's a lot of poverty and folks in rural areas who don't have much chance to get past the job of farming.

Well somebody's gotta grow food for the rest of the billions of Chinese :)
