Unless they will actually kill themself if they never get to play it, in which they might as well end it all anyways. Anybody who NEEDS to play a video game is sad, end of story.

Heres the bottom line, and it can't be debated.

Valves owes NOTHING to everyone. Thats about as much as they owe to you. Nothing. If they want to cancel it right now, and start making a game which involves Gordon dancing with talking trees, they can. If they did, you wouldn't have a justified right to complain.

The same applies to release dates.

Well, while I doubt that such a problem is a legitimate one, let's assume that it is. It's still your problem. You could get a game fix anywhere else.

All we can hope for is that the end result is worth it all. And judging from everything so far, it should.

As in techno artists? Well, I don't really have an expansive collection of the such. I mainly listen to Aphex, Squarepusher, and Autechre. Luke Vibert (aka Wagon Christ aka Plug) has some good stuff and also exists on Warp records. Orbital, although not as extreme as the above artists, is still quite a good group that is more easy to dance to. 'Tis a shame that this will be their last year for them.

Look, they are giving the fans an update, it just happens to be through an established and reliable source. E-mails are trickier to verify and are far less likely to get noticed. And why would you care about the delivery system anyway? You'll get the information however it's delivered, if Valve don't want to give out a date it's because they're not ready to.

Fan e-mails are for minor questions, big announcements should be delivered through large gaming media centres.

Glad I caught this at the end of the thread so my opinion won't matter that much or will have been validated already.


If Valve kept us all uptodate on the release dates and such like then I'd have to force them to put *Valve* in the subject header to filter them out from the rest of the spam.
Seriously the game must be going through a hell of a lot of cleaning up, changes, not to mention brick walls, and Valve can't possibly stick to one solid date to release anything yet.

The game might be sent to the publishers in August but that doesn't mean the games ready to be sent out to the public. (remeber CZ)
If I recall a recent email, I believe a Valve employer mentioned that they hadn't even begun to sort out what the special box set will contain.

I won't be expecting a statement, regarding when HL2 will be coming out, until its all set to sell.

I do actually; I feel the same way about everything. I paid for a product; I got it (Half-life 1). Valve continues to support that product, patching it, etc. (like any other software company). Valve doesn’t own us HL2, we didn’t pay for that. If you bough the product and it wasn’t delivered to your footsteps, then you can start your bitching. Wake up, real world is a bitch.

it's not 'back-ordered'. it's only back ordered when they've released it but there's no current copies to sell to you.

What are you talking about? “Screwed up” of the bundling? If you have a coupon, you will be able to get HL2 through the steam either way.

You pre-ordered the game, with a credit card I assume, so your money won’t be taken away until actual product ships to your house. IF you placed pre-order in actual store, you paid only $5 of whole cost of the product, you will pay another $45 when actual product comes out, plus you get guarantied copy the day it comes out.
