What's Your Degree ?

2:1 BA Hons in English Language and Literature. Could have been higher if I'd wrote about ******ry sooner.

Plans? Yeah, good luck with those.

Instrumental music education. Still considering a jazz studies double-major.

Will be graduating with my Associate in Arts alongside my high school diploma as a senior.

Not too sure what I want to do yet. I should get on that, I'll be entering as a junior next year.

BA in English Language and Literature. I will sound like such a nerd by saying it but as much trouble and work as it is it is one of the best things in my life. After it's done I'm gunning for an MA, probably in America, and either in English And [something, politics, geography, medicine???] or at one of the big journalism schools (presuming a place). If I get a first class degree now I will seriously consider going into academia rather than journalism.

Physics and Astrophysics. It's a real conversation-killer.
What??? What kind of boring people do you have conversations with???

Bachelor in physics. Sulk you have no idea. Irish people do not understand science degrees. The only question they ever ask is "And what can you do with that once you're finished?" and seeing as I'm not really sure I rattle off something about being able to teach or go into research or go on to something else like engineering. Then they'll try to start talking about engineering because people understand what an engineer does but no one has a clue what a physicist does so I mostly get confused looks and awkward silences.

Talking with other college students goes slightly better.

Complete opposite where I live.

'English degree eh? So, you're going to be an English teacher and never make money.'

Currently focusing on medieval English. Does not look promising in terms of... anything.

I'm doing a BA in Documentary Photography. I get to do cool stuff like go on helicopter rescue missions and get paid. Once I finish, my plan is: screw Documentary, sell out, be amazing.

I'm still in High School. I plan to go to a community college and then transfer to a UC for a bachelors degree in Computer Game Design.

I did a degree in molecular biology and biochemistry. I edit revision guides.

I was going for a BA in primary education (language arts). But I'm not any more.

What am I going for now? No idea. Taking a scatter of classes next semester to help me decide.

Finished bachelor's in chemical engineering. Currently going for PhD in environmental engineering, which is kinda part of "Civil & Environmental Engineering", although I don't consider myself a civil engineer. Up to this point, grad environmental engineering classes are actually easier than undergrad chemical engineering classes, which makes life a whole lot less depressing.

Finished a Bachelor's in Molecular and Cellular Biology, I'm now doing an M.Res in Plant Science.

I'm thinking of doing a PhD after I finish this, though I'll probably move outside the UK. I'm thinking of Oz, though most funding seems to be reserved for Aus/NZ citizens.

Plant Science sounds cool. This may be a dumb question, but... do you get to work with actual living plants? Because that would be pretty awesome.

Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, majoring in Geology minoring in Geography (mapping).
Not sure what I want to do with it. Probably find stuff to mine or clean it up afterwards.

Remediation! Environmental consulting takes geology majors. But some people find consulting to be really boring.

Third year of five for a Masters in Chemistry.

Holy crap that's a long master's program. For five years they oughtta throw in a PhD or something.

Right now working on a Bachelors degree in Nursing. In my third year of college, with at least two more to go. Currently an EMT with a Rescue Squad.

What do you think of it? Are you enjoying it? I'm interested.

It's really really really really really really really really really really really really hard.

But fun. Sometimes. When I get what's going on. Which is not a lot. But when I do, it's totally worth it. The harder you work, the better it is...I barely opened a book in first year, and I didn't really enjoy it that much (mainly because I just didn't care). But this year I'm working much harder and I'm actually enjoying it. Especially labs. I like those:bounce:

I plan on going back and doing a music degree afterwards. But that's a long way off, I'll probably have changed my mind by the time I'm finished. I don't ever want to be a teacher. My mother is a teacher. Put me off for life.

Third year civil engineering with major in Electrical Engineering and minor in Computer Science.

Skanks totally dig that.

Dude, are you crazy. At my old university people weren't even ALLOWED to double major in two different engineering majors.

No offense but I think he's full of shit . Universities severely discourage double and TRIPLE majors like that.

I'd get comp eng , elec eng and compsci if i could .

Well, I did know a guy who majored in mechanical engineering but took enough electrical/computer engineering classes that they let him switch to electrical for grad school (after taking a couple more classes the summer before grad school). It wasn't technically counted as a double major though.

I'm too broke to go to school. Thinking about just joining the military in the communications installation field. Something I already have experience in.

/sigh

Biochemistry SPP program. Beyond that is up in the air, though graduate studies, then research either in a hospital, or a university would be ideal for me.

Wilderness Science, Wildlife and Parks Management. Something like that. I've always liked the outdoors and I want to go be a park ranger after college.

Nice relaxing job.

Lol at comprehensive reading.
you're kidding ... right ? .
What the hell is wrong with people today? Are sun flares globally interrupting with sarcasmeters?

Yeah, I was going to say something about all their posts, but I thought maybe I had missed some kind of joke or something, and didnt want to seem stupid for missing it.

Well you said you were a third year Civil Engineering which I took to mean:

1) Major in Civ Engr
2) Major in Elec Engr
3) Minor in Comp Sci

Also I never said you were faking it, just that having a major in engineering, a second major in a completely unrelated engineering, and a minor in comp sci would either drive a person to madness and/or depression, or take 5+ years, which is why many schools don't allow it.

The only other way you could possibly interpret your post would be that you already got your degree in electrical engineering along with a minor in comp sci (which is reasonable), and are now going back to school again for a degree in civil engineering, which would mean that you are not doing all three at the same time. If that's the case, that was totally ambiguous.

P.S. I am pretty sure Mindless_Moder's post about "You're kidding right" was directed toward your ridiculous degree plan, rather than the skanks joke. Lol at comprehensive reading. :|

Bachelor's in Business Administration and associates in Computer Networking. I don't see any other business majors here...

Aiming for Bachelor of Science in Financial Accounting.

Currently working on my associate's

I'll clarify my statement, before someone else calls me full of shit or worse.

If you want to do higher education in Belgium, you have to choose between two levels: university and university-college. The former has the more difficult and abstract studies (Medicine, Physics, Law, ...) while the latter has the easier ones (Management, teachers for lower years, ...).

This is obviously not like it's in the rest of Europe and since the Bologna accords (Bachelor-Master degrees, more comparable degrees throughout Europe), the university-colleges are being blended in with the universities.

However, there were certain degrees that you could follow both at the universities and at the university-colleges. An example is computer science, where the university-college degree is oriented very practical without too much theory, and the university degree is a lot of math and electrical background.

Another is engineering, which you could do at both levels. The one at university, which I'm doing, is (directly translated and for a lack of a better alternative) called "Civil Engineering", while the other one is called "Applied Engineering". I assumed as such, because in French it's "Ingénieur civil".

Within that engineering degree, you have the various choices as chemistry, electrical engineering, architecture, ...

If anything was ambigious, Mindless_moders' post toward which part of my post was. I was only expecting anyone to reply to the last sentence, since the rest is kind of dull to me.

Oh! That clarifies things a lot. I just assumed civil engineering was the name of a specific major, rather than the overall engineering program. "Civil engineering" here typically is specific to structural/architectural engineering, water treatment, etc. Sorry if I was rude. I feel pretty stupid now .

English Literature and Philosophy and Ethics.

How am I not surprised in the least by this?

Nietzsche, much as I loathe him, did say "A friend should be a master at guessing and keeping still: you must not want to see everything."

Wish I could be arsed to go for that Philosophy minor, just don't have time. =/

I'm studying a dual degree: Bachelor of Economics and a BA in which I'm majoring in Literature and (at this point) French.

Career Prospects... as you can see from my combination I'm not certain at all. I'd like to get my honours in Economics so I'm guaranteed some form of job. Still, I'm really pining for something in the creative writing industry, most notably screenwriting.
