I'm sorry if a poll like this has been posted; shoot me if it has. But I'm curious to see who everyone would vote for in the coming Presidential elections for the United States. If it's not Ron Paul on the republican side, then I'm going democrat. I voted for Bush last election and I feel it was a huge mistake. I wasn't educated in politics and it was my first time voting, so I kind of just followed what my parents believed. Anyway, which candidate would you choose?

If I was American, propably Giuliani. He *did* contribute to the fall of New York crime rates significantly.

Ron Paul? Since when did rabid destruction of government resulted in benefits for the country and it's citizens?

Since when was government bureaucracy overwhelmingly more efficient than the market forces? There is an underestimation of people when it comes to them being charitable and we don't need the stealing of the fruits of our labor to make us aware that it's wrong.

Barrack Obama because I like his voice.

Barrack Obama is one smooth guy from what I hear. My aunt is an international business consultant and she met him. From what I hear, he is a very genuine guy and very down to earth. That look he portrays isn't just some act; it's the genuine article. But, because Ron Paul will pull the troops out of Iraq immediately, I will vote for him. I just pray Hillary doesn't get the nomination cause Barrack is my straw man; if Ron doesn't get the nomination and I have to choose between Hillary Clinton and some shit storm of a republican candidate, I probably won't vote.

A few weeks ago Hillary went to my college. A lot of people are going for McCain or Giuliana in NH actually. I wanted to get her autograph or actually see in person a potential president. Well it turned out they had barricaded where she was making the speech. They would not let anybody in as well. So from what I got from that was:
  1. She surrounded herself with high up schmucks and councilmen.
  2. Doesn't want any "surprise" questions that weren't planned.
  3. That girl in that one college who said planned questions is correct probably.
  4. Heard strong applause at every word she said no matter how bad it sounded (all for the camera).
She also promises a lot of things. In fact in one of her campaign ads she said she would bring our men and women home from Iraq on day 1. :| I like McCain a lot but he still wants to be in Iraq. Also he is republican ahaha. I was voting for Edward but he is'nt saying much at all or really pushing that hard. So I'm probably voting for Obama and avoiding all the pimp daddy bs. We need a new face as well because he is relatively new and is'nt corrupt yet. Dem's are actually repubs but they arn't fully corrupted yet lol. He is young as well and we don't need another grouch like heart failure Cheney.

It would be a glorious day if I had to choose between Ron Paul or Barrack Obama. And Hillary sounds phony as hell TBH. And about McCain, he is as bad as any other republican candidate in that he wants to send us into Iran to shut them down. **** the republicans and **** any candidate that wants to keep us in an unjust war.

Obama or Hillary.

I don't want another republican president, or a libertarian. It's time the government reduced the deficit, got out of the Iraq war, and did something about global warming.

It's time we got a young and new senator as president. The last time we had one it was with Kennedy but his life was obviously ended much too short. :( New ideas, out with old, in with the new! *Lol, at skarrob. Who said that? Bush mainly after he keeps rambling that if we elect a democrat, new taxes will come up. Just like taxing the poor and giving more money to the rich. Along with the flip flopping dems as well. Which is it Bush, are you lying to us about Iran or what? Taxes are an essential thing. We can't tax everything though but you know what? Taxes are a necessary evil. It's how road repairs are done. It's how anything gets done. We need to stop outsourcing, and focus on America! Too much focusing on countries out in a desert that have nothing but oil and terrorists.

Yayyy more taxes theotherguy. I cant wait can you?

Neither can I.

More taxes on the rich and corporations to relieve the deficit, cuts in military spending and increases in social spending.

Taxes are not a bad thing. They are necessary to sustain government programs.

The more we tax and regulate the more incentive there is to outsource and the greater the extent to which we implement an excess-profit tax the less incentive there is for entrepreneurs to profit from things which the consumers are in the service of. That itself is common-sense so it's obviously not as simple as it's made out to be.

And less regulation leads to shitty products, exploitation of workers, and vast networks of trust and monopoly.

What is needed is an outsourcing tax and a subsidy for corporations who prefer to hire American workers. That way we can have our cake and eat it too, and corporations won't have to worry about losses for treating their employees humanely and paying them reasonably.

Obama because I like his views, and he is an incredibly intelligent and fluid speaker, something important for a president.

Obama or Kucinich vs Paul for the election would be a dream come true. I would vote for Paul though. His honesty and logic are completely unheard of in today's politicians.

We would not be able to have our cake and eat it too. Subsidization ultimately calls for both inefficiency and the move towards political control (lobbying) of a market by those who would instead be spending their time servicing consumers in the same market. Also, the outsourcing tax similarly neglects efficiency. It seems hypocritical to me that you're willing to hurt consumers in such ways while at the same time mention monopolies and cartels as an awful thing. This goes without mentioning that government intervention itself is a cause for monopolization which your advocation for an "outsourcing tax" is an example of as it's a constraint of competition. The exploitation of labor may also come about from taxes as well as minimum wage laws which can force the laborers of a firm to do more work as to make up for the loss in employment.

If I vote, it'll be for Paul.

I do like Obama, but I think most of this country is still too racist to go for an African American President. The same goes for Hillary. Even if she wasn't terrible, we're still not ready for a woman President.

I love you. Please post here more often.

All of which would work better through market forces. People will pay to improve their roads.

I've become a fan of Tim Hartford's ideas. Socialism and "planned economy" sucks tbh. The only state interference should be to set up a one time compensation system, to get all citizens to the same starting point in the economic rat race. Taxes on income and goods fail to do anything effectively.

Obama most likely. Im kinda on the edge though... if Obama were up against Ron Paul i'd have a tough time. I would probably vote Obama though, if only to change the ruling party.

Operative word: rabid.

There is nothing wrong with GRADUAL, SYSTEMATIC and EDUCATED removal of bureaucracy and red tape. Shutting down literally overnight is moronic and harmful.

Then how is your argument against Ron Paul a valid one?

Screw it. THere should be an African American 1/4 asian woman candidate for president.

And it's not a matter of if we're ready or not. People'll never be ready for something until it actually happens first. Gotta take the plunge, no easy way to do it.

I'll probably vote Edwards in the primaries - and whoever the Democrat is in the general. I don't mean to be so biased but all the Republican candidates seem to be doing is trying to get far enough away from Bush so they aren't associated with him but keeping basically all of the same positions and opinions that have failed us for the last 8 years.

Also, LOL @ all of the Paulestinians; your all going to be in for a world of hurt if that man gets elected and you find out that Congress rejects all of his "reforms" and all you get left with is a hard-core Christian who happens to be against the Iraq War.

Wanting it to happen doesn't mean it's going to. It is a matter of being ready when people are actually voting. This isn't a "President is assassinated and the black vice president takes over". I can't see America being at the stage yet where they'll elect a black man.

Annnnnd that would still be better than Bush or Hillary.

If I was American, probably Barack Obama or Rudy Giuliani (Mr. 9/11?) they looks like able, rational and educated persons. Ron Paul is not bad but he's too isolationistic.
I'm pretty scared of candidates like mormon Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Tom Tancredo.

Then how is your argument against Ron Paul a valid one?

Ron Paul said:
Years of centralized education have produced nothing but failure and frustrated parents. We can resurrect our public school system if we follow the Constitution and end the federal education monopoly.

And end up with a fractured, fragmented education system with no standards. And given the fundie perseverance, half of the states would end up with creationism and no evolution theory on their curriculum. Yes, I see the benefits of destroying the government right here.

That's what I could remember off the top of my head. But reading through the issues section again...

I share our Founders? belief that in a free society each citizen must have the right to keep and bear arms. They ratified the Second Amendment knowing that this right is the guardian of every other right, and they all would be horrified by the proliferation of unconstitutional legislation that prevents law-abiding Americans from exercising this right.

Good ****ing lord. A candidate that can't be arsed to read up on the context and circumstances in which the Second Amendment to the Consitution was passed.

We must withdraw from any organizations and trade deals that infringe upon the freedom and independence of the United States of America.

Oh yeah, isolationism really worked in the 20s and 30s.

I guess faithful allies, such as Poland, will never get the compulsory visas repealed.

Executive power interfering with the judicial. GFL.

We have a president with similiar views and had a prime minister who shared them (brothers after all). Results? Disastrous.

Also, I'd love to see some real examples from him, rather than the usual empty words and references to the mysterious, powerful interests.

Ron Paul!!!!
Seriously? Why?

EDIT: I've yet to see a candidate I actually want to vote for. I've always said Fred Thompson in the past simply because I like him as an actor. But I seriously can;t get behind any of these candidates. Maybe I'll just write myself in.

On paper, I agree with Kucinich's views more than Obama's. But I like Obama's personality far, far more than Kucinich, so I voted for him. Obama is also much more a "man of the world" than any other candidate, which is extremely useful on the foreign policy area.

Obama's grandmother lives in a hut on the Kenyan countryside without running water or electricity. He spend much of his teen years in Indonesia. He has acquired different perspectives of the world though this upbringing and background, something that makes him superior compared to the other candidates in understanding diffect counries, peoples and cultures.

But not the only thats important. :)
