Who missed the non-combat moments?

Episode 1 is amazing and I am very impressed in how they managed to make it feel new. But it was, however, lacking the non-combat tense wander around sections like Lost Coast, the introduction, Black Mesa East, and parts within each level. Or atleast there was not as many.

Anyone else really miss these. I really hope we get these in EP2, like patroling/traveling through the woods waiting for an ambush or wandering around a camp, and bedroom, with Alyx.

Oh yeah, more hugs too.

I think considering this was a 4 hour game, the intro parts and such were more than plenty of those non combat moments.

I thought I would, but I really didn't. I mean, lord knows I love that feeling of exploration, but that goes away after a certain point in HL2 (when you get back to City 17). Being as Ep. 1 is just a continuation of that, it makes sense to be more action-focused.

Besides, the frequency and intensity reminded me a TON of Half-Life (which pwned :D)

I don't miss them in Episode 1. The citadel and city is wrecked so I expect it to not be as open as HL2. Non-combat moments don't do much good in narrow passage ways. I craved intense fights instead. And since it was a short episode rather than a long full game I didn't get tired of it.

Agreed, if it was longer and the surrounding environment was a bit more suitable then yeah sure i would've missed it if they didn't include it, but it wasn't too long and the environment didn't suit those kind of situations imo.

I dunno why, but I'm very glad it's an Alyx co-op thing. It just makes the whole game more interesting.

I did love the part (or vista as they call it) when you first get to the surface and you see the wreckage of City 17 and a strider patroling. All while the citidel "does it's thing" in the background. Love the atmosphere in that. Other then that, there really wasn't a place for any non-combant moments in the game, seeing how it was a mad dash to get out of the city.
