Yes. I know. The only downfall (minor) to this awesome mouse.

To anyone who's interested, my specs are:

generic 350w power supply
ecs k7s5a mobo
amd 2000+
1 gb crucial 400 mhz ddr ram
200 gb and 60 gb hard drive
nec 8x dvd+/-rw burner
nec 52x cd burner
ati 9800 pro (soon to be overclocked to 9800xt numbers)

bring on hl2

Why are people debating over mice? To be honest, I can't tell the difference between a ball mouse (one that isnt ****ed up), and a top of the line optical mouse....they do the same thing to me, i dont notice a difference. anywho, most of you guys have sweet specs.

Is not a "debate", it's just an educated discussion for us white folks... err hold up, I ain't white, doh!

The HL2 rig, assembled over five months:

Asus P4P800-VM
1GB DDR400 RAM
ATi Radeon 9600XT
SB Audigy 2 ZS
19" ViewSonic A91f+
WD80GB UltraATA HD

It's not God's own box or anything, but for about $800, it's a good deal for a rig that will run HL2 very well. It also plays Doom 3 nicely.

$800!?
I don't think that's right. I mean, 19" monitor = 200 bucks probably, same for video card. do you remember how the cost broke down?

I built this system last year just waiting for HL2. I followed a nice tech curve though, and this baby still keeps pace with the best of 'em!

$0.02: Buy a good monitor... they are usually the last thing you will have to replace, and for FPS I think there's nothing more important than a good view.

Quoted for emphasis!

Ive kinda upgraded, I just got a new graphics card & overclocked my rig:

P4 2.4ghz 800 FSB running at 3.10ghz 1016 FSB
DFI Lanparty Pro875 mobo
1gig Corsair twinx PC4000 ram
Soundblaster Audigy
Just ordered a ATI X800XT Platinum.....but i was a bit hasty and sold my 9800 256mb Pro thinking that my X800XT would be here in a few days.......ive now got to wait 3 weeks minimum before i get it so im using an old nvidia geforce 2 MX 32mb until i get it! I cant even play flashpoint now!

your memory and HD choice is good
the cpu and also the mobo choice is less

Upgraded to an A7N8X-E with an AMD 3200 and a rad 9800 pro a few months ago. That lot runs D3 like a dream, bugs not withstanding. now I need to replace my old IDE harddrive (which doesn't) with a SATA, and get another stick of crucial DDR.

I only upgraded my gfx card last year to a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra 128MB from a GeForce 4 MX 440 SE 64MB. But not just for Half Life 2, other games as well

I haven't upgraded for almost a year, but the last component I bought was indeed for Halflife2 last september: a hercules 9800. My cpu is two years old and can handle D3 at 1024 res with the eye-candy just fine, I dont see why I should upgrade for HL2 hehe :D

who cares bro, as long as i am happy about it.

My pc is kinda out of date LOL.

Here are my great specs:

AMD Athlon 900Mghz
384 mb ram
geforce 4 mx440
17 inch f.cked up monitor.

Try to beat that, 5 years old. I hope within 2 months i will have my new pc. New pc specs:

AMD Athlon64 3200+
1024 mb ram
ATI Radeon 9800pro
19 inch monitor.

Thats better

I got an A64@ 2.5Ghz + 1gb ram + X800p = 24400 3dmark 2k1 pts so I hope to play hl2 nicely :D water cooled

I got Pentium 4 3.2 GHZ, 1024 RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 Megs Direct X 9.C 52 CDRW, Surround Sound 5 Speakers Dolby Digital 5.1

DooM 3 runs on medium quality 1024X748 Resolution 40-60 FPS Good Enough I am sure Half Life 2 will run good enough to enjoy the game :)

I upgraded my pc for HL2/Doom3

earlier:

Processor: Pentium 4 1.5ghz S428
Motherboard: DFI WT70
RAM: 128 rimm
Video: GeForce2 MX400 32mb
Monitor: LF FLATRON 775FT 17"
HDD: Segate 20gb, Maxtor 40gb

now:

Processor: Pentium 4 3.0ghz S478
Motherboard: ABIT IC7-MAX3
RAM: 1024mb DDR (512x2, dual channel)
Video: GeForce FX5700 128mb
Monitor: LF FLATRON 775FT 17"
HDD: Segate 20gb, Maxtor 40gb

my new pc ran Doom3 smoothly on high quality about 40fps, and it should handle with HL2 (i hope :))

glad to start seeing more people with an fx-53. now i dont feel so lonely.

Well, my 9800pro with VGA silencer should be here thursday, to replace my GeForce 4 Ti4200. That's all the upgrading I have the stomach (or the pocket) for.

I bought a radeon 9800XT! :D I just got a graphix card because we all know thats the most important component when playing a game. (well apart from a half decent processor but lets forget that.) :p

all i can say is ill never go back to intel. :naughty:

Right now I don't want to mention my rig, but I'm ordering my new system soon with a budget of about $1500:

Nzxt Guardian ATX Mid-Tower Case w/420W Power Supply Black
AMD® Athlon-64 3000+ CPU w/ Hyper Transport Technology
Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink + 2 Extra 3-Color LED Light Case Fans
GigaByte K8N-Pro nForce-3 Chipset w/5.1 Sound, LAN, IEEE-1394, USB 2.0 8x AGP Motherboard
1024 MB [512MB X2] DDR-400 PC3200 Memory Module Corsair XMS PRO w/ LED Lights
Nvidia GeForce 6800-GT 256MB w/DVI + TV Out
120 GB HARD DRIVES [Serial-ATA] Western Digital 120 GB 7200 RPM SATA 8MB Cache Hard Drive
Sicuro Gaming Speakers 2.1 w/ subwoofer

There you have it. I should expect some nice high-quality gaming in the future. :cheese: :bounce: :cheese:

Wow dude....alienwares are a waste, you seriously should of built your own for 1k cheaper, i got the same mobo as you 1.5 gigs of ram (3200) geforce fx 5700 256 (it ran doom 3 like a dream on high settings) and its funny cuz i get 60-80 fpx on css almost the same as the 800xt which was also a waste of money i think, should of waited till the price drops, same sound card, case has 9 fans, and im getting a 21 inch crt monitor soon, guess how much my computer cost (1200 :-P)

I didn't even know they made the 5700 in 256mb. Either way, it is doubtful that it ran any better than mine, in which I got about 20-30 fps with medium-high settings.
