Who wants Doom 3 a Bit Early? (Seriously)

I pre-ordered Doom 3 about a week ago at my local EB. Their date was August 4th. I hear this rumor about Gamestop getting the game early (on the IGN boards no less-real believable..I know)..like the 30th or 31st of July...so I call my local Gamestop to check up on it. The store near me is only taking pre-orders but....

THEIR DATE IS JULY 31ST

I'm going there today after I cancel my pre-order at EB. Screw them. I'm getting mine Friday or Saturday.

Call your local Gamestop stores and see for yourself.

EDIT: This thread just started on the IGN Boards a few hours ago..so fairly fresh news.
 
Interesting! I'll just wait until the official date though.. I don't want to pre-order

I saw something about this the other day saying that ID will come down hard on retailers who try to sell it before the official date ...so pick it up while you still can if they do go on sale early

id said in their initial .plan update detailing gold that, retailers would more than likely sell it early, and that they don't mind
 
hmmmmmm that's odd. I heard some retailers would gladly recieve a fine in order to be the first one to carry D3
 
Hey, im on the phone with them know. Their web page still sas the 4th but he sas the STREET DATE IS SET FOR TOMARROW!!! im on hold as he is calling the HQ to dbl check.
 
He said that the HQ told him go with what the computer sas becuase its going off of UPS.... THX GOD!!!!!!! I work at BB so im calling them to have em check the pc to see if the date got moved up. He said it will be here SATURDAY!
 
Mayro - Clarify this for me. If I pre-order at gamestop, I will be able to play Doom 3 this Saturday since I will be able to pick it up early?
 
Wow, so it might be out tommorow? thats cool, but even if it isnt, August 4th sint too far away
 
The guy that i called at gamestop said that it is shipping on the 31st and will be in the store on satuday and you will be able to buy it becuase he said that once they get it they can sell it. "columbus ohio"
 
Eb is set for the 4th if you call their stores... Im really starting to think that Gamestop's dates are off... I cant understand why they would get it and no one else. Their web page also doesnt reflect it ither.

Sweet! I already pre-ordered mine from Gamestop! So this means, I might have it for this weekend?
 
holy crap, if anyone really does get this on saturday could you make a thread about it so other people may go to gamestop the day before the copies are all gone, i mean just for clarification's sake

What the hell am I supposed to do in the meantime?

That'd be quite the trick. Say they're releasing early...get everyone to order from them, then come the 31st...OOPS...something seems to have happened to our shipment..looks like the 3rd of August for you all...bwahahahah...we have your money now!
 
I'm in Columbus Ohio also, but have never been to the gamestop here but if they have it saturday like they say I will definitely be there!!!
 
The thing that i dont understand. I dont warez... although i look at fourms for it on occasion.. THE SCENE doesnt even have it yet. I dont see how it will be in their store in 2 days when its not on the net. Its going through UPS aka Under paid slaves..... Lots of stuff falls off the truck their.... Im calling BS on them till i pick it up their satuday.
 
Do they export, I live in the netherlands and we get it august 13 :(
 
Ah that doesnt make sense, I ordered it off of their site and it still says "ships 8/03". Christ I payed extra money for shipping too :x

I heard something about this on another forum, anyways i got mine from gamestop so i hope the best works out for it.

What about the UK, is it being released early over here?
 
The only people who are getting it are the people who wait until midnight on the 3rd i believe at a select few Best Buys....everyone else will be the 4th or 5th.
 
Next week Doom3 box will be in my hand. Man, I FEEL GREAT. :p

Don't you live in the UK? If so, you have to wait 2 weeks.

I remember when I went to America I got Dark Forces earlier than the release date. It just depened when they got the shipment in, I thought that was class.

I think it's illegal in the UK to sell games before the release date, I've never seen it done.

I don't know but they get it august 6 or 8 I believe, its not that long of a wait

couldnt you just buy it online from a north american retailer? ...you'd get it a few days earlier
