Undoubtedly you could make some pretty wicked sex-scenes. But I prefer keeping HL2 on a more "serious level". That said, there will be HL2 porn, that I'm sure of.
 
I don't know, I kinda get the impression Alyx will be there more to fill in story gaps. Exposition between battles, if you will. And to evoke emotion ...say if Eli is killed etc.

I think she will do SOME things, but I'm not sure she will be a main fighter along side Gordon for huge portions of the game.
 
To be honest I hope she's not a constant sidekick. Gordon's the strong and silent type, a Val-esque follower would ruin things. Azure Sheep drove me mad trying to babysit Kate. Stupid woman.

As for Dog, I'd totally forgotten about his existence. We've seen nothing new on him; apparently he's more than capable of kicking our asses. BIG STOMPY ROBOTS = WIN.

Anyway, continue with the sexual references lads. I need a laugh.

On the real thread topic (well, sortof, since there really isn't one). What's with the sidekicks having sidekicks?

Gordon has Alyx, Alyx has DOG...it'll just keep going..

DOG will have CAT, CAT will have BIRD, BIRD will have WORM...pffft, sidekicks annoy me.

...They need to be faceless meatshields like in every war simulation game. If they're not good for taking 30 rounds to the chest and head, what's the point? :p . I'm all for story - just not story that follows me around.

[plus - all you people obsessed with naked alyxses - go buy Max Payne 2, I hear there's a way to get topless nudity floating around in that game - solves the porn problems and the sidekick problems all in one...of course, similarly to HL2, it's just a face mesh (assumingly) painted by an artist. Sooo....who gets aroused looking at the Mona Lisa?]

Haven't played Far Cry-- Val is from there , eh?

Don't forget Mona Sax from MaxPayne2 (great game, too bad so few people bought it)-- she was an awesome female "sidekick" character. You got to play as her in a few of the levels.

I hope that Alyx doesn't fight with Gordon that much, otherwise she'd just become a pain. However, having something happen to her at the climax of the story would be quite cool ....

And yes, I agree, Val was a right bugger to work with. For example, on the swamp level, she ran STRAIGHT into the mercenery camp, with no regard to me. That left me running after her, and getting my armour shot down to a quarter before the battle finally ended, and most of my ammo was gone. I strongly doubt that "CIA" training tells you to run directly into a enemy camp, with only a silenced MP5. Anyone from the CIA, can you confirm this ?

I always thought that HL2 would end with Alyx and the G-Man flying away in a black helicopter, with Gordon chasing after them, but the Helicopter would always be out of his reach or something ....

Gordon's only dialouge will be:

Alyx: "I love you, Gordon!"

Gordon: "Alyx, you're a waste of space."
 
In Far Cry, they might as well have given Val weapons more appropriate to her intent--like airhorns and flareguns, perhaps Inspector Gadget's siren-hat.
