Will There be Riots in Oakland, Cincinnati, LA, ATL, etc if Obama Loses?

And anyway, if just civilians vs. military, it would be along the lines of civilians laying in front of tanks.
Hmm, this scenario reminds me of beef stew and mashed potatoes for some reason. :?

Or tanks that are unable to advance without committing crimes of murder, unless of course they get orders to advance anyway, then it's just wrong, and the tank drivers know it.

That will decrease moral a great deal, and at the same time increase ranks of opposition.

Good point.

You mean morale btw right?

Haha good one. Its like you're implying that only McCain supports have jobs and work to help the nation and that Obama supporters are all slackers and jobless f*ckups, but you're not really because you're joking and saying it in all good fun. Very funny.

pretty much that's how it is.

More like any one different from yourselves is assumed to be completely narrow minded. Can I not make a ****ing joke for Christs sake? I interact with people every day that are flaming liberals that work hard. I'm not an idiot. I did my summer externship at a very liberal dentists office. He worked his ass off and I respect him very much. I completely disagreed with him on everything political but that doesn't matter. Seriously get over yourselves.

We don't take kindly to jokes here at hl2.net. The sooner you realize that, the better.

Unless the jokes are about rapists. Then they're all in good fun. Ya'know, since we're mostly democrats here and thusly support rape.

why does everything need to be defined as liberal or conservative? what the **** is a liberal dentist? they send the bill to george bush instead of you? there were posters of JFK, Mahatma gandhi, and Che throughout the waiting room? pro-choice/savethegayspropaganda pamphlets given to patients along with a tooth brush and a lollipop? (made in the rainforest using 100% slave-free labourers who feel good about their place in the new world economy of globalisation and no fat lattes)

This country's terrain isn't well suited to guerrilla warfare.

With the exception of state and national parks, almost all the US is either urban or open plains...nowhere to hide...the Rockies, Sierras and Appalachians being the exception....

Honestly, I do expect rioting from Obamanites, regardless if he wins or loses. If he loses, its racism, and all must pay. If he wins, the bruthas are movin on up and will redistribute the wealth...

I don't mean to interject, but I think urban environments make for some of the best places to hide and maneuver around in. But that's just my opinion I really wouldn't know anything about it hehe

Assuming you can gain access to the buildings...if not its just a bunch of funnels and choke points...

Damn negros, they're all just waiting for an excuse to steal and riot, amirite?

Not just blacks, but radical liberals of all races....honestly I think Whites will be far more likely to riot...particularly the youth where white kids think they are black and hate the establishment...

Do you honestly think that "radical liberals" in the USA are diehard commies?

Democrats aren't particularly left-wing by global standards.

I find that I lean left on many subjects, such as abortion and seperation of church and state, but when people like Obama say that the Constitution is open to their interpretation and that the Bill of Rights can be picked apart and revoked at any time, I have a big problem...

The government is employed by the people, and the people have the right to remove those in power and replace them with people who more closely fit the majority's beliefs. Then you get things like the Mayor and City Council of New York City (all democrats) who realized that because of term limits they were about to lose their jobs, so they voted to remove those limits. Who is to say that others wouldnt do the same thing. Then we are just 1 step away from them declaring themselves "King" and future elections are suspended...

Wow you should be a politician. You didn't even come CLOSE to answering the question.

Removing the constitution and installing absolute rule and redistribution of wealth sounds alot like communism to me...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard Obama say that the Bill of Rights (or rather, the Constitution) can be "revoked". The Constitution is open to interpretation as the founding fathers knew that changing times would call for changing legislation and review of dated laws. The ninth amendment is a prime example of law by interpretation, if you should ever be so inclined to research it.

Sorry to sound so mean! I think debate is a healthy way to be more knowledgeable about politics and social sciences : )

Why are you being nice to people Pesh? I'm becoming suspicious.

Anyway where the hell do you get "Removing the constitution and installing absolute rule and redistribution of wealth" from? Been having nightmares?

Communism preaches that the proletariat should gain complete control over the means of production. I don't see how anything Obama has said comes close to that.

The constitution isn't a perfect document. If revising it is needed to improve society, why not do it? And "redistribution of wealth" is what basically all taxes do. Every social security program, every public school, every government project in relief of the poor is a "redistribution of wealth".

Tell me, what parts of the Constitution would you revise?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_xNyrzB0xI
He says the Constitution was critically flawed in regards to slavery, and is to this day...yet the Constitution has been amended to outlaw slavery...

Paying taxes to fix roads and build schools is alot different then simply taking your money and giving it directly to people who choose not to work...a'la Social Security and Welfare...

Why are you being nice to people Pesh? I'm becoming suspicious

We figured out in steam chat that Pesh's younger sister found out the passwords to Pesh's accounts. Obviously this Pesh is an impostor.

@ Ridge: The majority of those on Welfare didnt choose to to be. Thats over generalizing the issue, most people who are unemployed are unable to acquire work, not unwilling. Thats a false "fact" people like to use as an excuse to not help fellow Americans and human beings out when they're in extreme financial hurt.

Plus his plans wont be taxing our money any more than it is now. It is the ultra rich that get taxed more. The people making 250,000 dollars or more a year will see higher taxes, the people making under 75,000 dollars a year will actually receive tax cuts. Not only that, but it is much less a "redistribution of wealth" than the 800 billion dollar bailout was, which nobody seems too upset about.

Everybody was upset about the bailout except for bankers and politicians...

The bailout is a disaster of epic proportions! People making over 250 grand a year are far from super rich

Oh give me a break. It was obvious I meant liberal democrat. I'd say a good 95% of the time someone really liberal in the US is a democrat and someone really conservative is a republican. I know there is the green party, libertarians, etc, etc and that is where the 5% is.

I was merely trying to point out that I know that there are plenty of hard working dems out there despite my opinions on their ideology. Why argue about something like that?

People making over 250 grand a year are far from super rich
It is unbelievable to me that, while gas prices have tripled and food prices have doubled in just the past few years, and so on, not to mention the last 20 years, that minimum wage has gone up only about 1 dollar in the past 20 years.

Anyone who thinks things are okay, and minimum wage is fine the way it is, is a ****ing moron, IMHO. It needs to be changed immediately. You are causing the lower class, who can't afford housing to become homeless bums. Bums generate $0 tax revenue, and in fact may cost the government money.

Minimum wage is like $6 an hour which is $14,016 per year

People making $250,000 a year are making about $107 an hour.

($107 [per hour] * 8 hours per day) * 292 working days in a 365 day year [5 days per week]

$107 * 8 hour work day = $856 per day

$856 * 292 days per year = $249,952 dollars per year

Now for minimum wage:

$6 per hour * 8 hour work day/40 hour work week = $48 dollars per day

48 per day * 292 working days in a year = $14,016 per year

interestingly, those making over $250,000 a year, the ones that will see a tax increase, make about the same in 1 day than a minimum wage worker makes in a month.

Do you have any idea how much money $250,000 is?

If you were to spend $80,000 a year (which is still more than most people make) and save the rest for only 6 years, you could retire and live fairly comfortably off the interest that amount of cash makes in a normal bank account.

Oh god, they will have to settle for the used Ferrari, meanwhile lower class has to carry their groceries to their home on a park bench on foot. Luckily they can't afford to eat every meal, so that's less they have to carry.

My brother and his wife make a combined income of about $170,000 a year and this is the two floor 6 car garage he had built onto his house for his arcade and movie theater:

Unless they have several kids going through college and giving BMWs away as gifts then no normal person will need to spend most of 250,000 dollars a year.

I live in an area where households like that are not unusual. It means that each person is making at least $125,000 dollars a year. If they're having financial trouble, even under a huge tax load (much more than this plan is), they will be fine.

It is unbelievable to me that, while gas prices have tripled and food prices have doubled in just the past few years, and so on, not to mention the last 20 years, that minimum wage has gone up only about 1 dollar in the past 20 years.
Minimum wage in Florida and Georgia was $5.15 in 2003. It's now $7.15.

It really shouldn't matter what you feel someone else needs to live on. If someone makes the right decisions in life and works hard to succeed financially whose right is it to take some of their earnings from them simply because they are successful. Punishing prosperity is not the way to grow an economy. Tax cuts for the "rich" is not a wealth redistribution. It's giving some of the tax dollars back to the people who pay the most taxes which is completely fair.

The tax system in the US works so that it has certain steps. You make for example $50k you pay a certain percentage, anything over that up to $75k you pay a different percentage for that portion over $50k but under $75k but still pay the $50k rate on the first $50k, anything over $100k you pay a higher percentage etc etc. You do not just have one tax bracket so that your total income is taxed one rate, but several rates in a stepped manner. So it's really only fair that people getting more money paying an higher rate on a portion of their income get some of that back. My $50k, $75k, $100k steps are just random numbers I picked. I don't know off hand where the steps/brackets begin. It is a common misconception that you could make just enough to get in a higher bracket and make less money because of your increased taxes. That is not physically possible.

The American dream is making a new life for yourself and achieving whatever you want to, its not shitting on each other and scrambling to the top and then guarding that obscene wealth at the utter expense of other human beings to the point your so selfish you cant even handle a meager tax increase to pay for some UHC or other systems to help the lower large rung of society scrape by and you know, make a productive life out of what they have.

I mean ****, Scotland is tarred with this stereotype of miserly money horders who are so tight we are loath to part with a single penny but some opinions and "arguments" I've heard against UHC and the like are just pure and un-ashamed greed, its disgusting.

My 2 cents.

*leaves the thread to the vultures*

you missed my point entirely

liberal, conservative republican or democrat ..it's the same thing; labels used to describe a particular pov ..you seem to divide everyone into two distinct camps: liberal/democrat (the democrats are right of centre so I dont know how you people came up with the "liberal" label) and conservative/republican
