i dunno, that sounds weird. you need steam to play a single player game? what if you dont have internet or somthin, you cant play it?

i think i heard that steam will only be used on hl2 sp for a few weeks or so, i could be wrong on that.

yeah... its somewhere in that info from Valve only thread..
way back in October 2003 or so.. Gabe confirmed by email that eventually they will release a patch that will allow users to play HL2 SP and not have any relation to the internet at all.
