19 hours, playing on normal. under deadline time pressure to prepare a written review without much replayment of cool parts if any at all.

Without those circumstances, you could probably be getting 25 playing on normal and re-playing the cool parts.

At hard, you're looking at 25 to 30 hours.

Besides, I'd rather have 20 hours of quality (which it is) rather than 20 hours of Doom 3's mindnumbing repitition.

Well, I have only played the demo so I should probably keep my mouth shut. But I think people who say Doom 3 was over too fast are those who just want to complete games as fast as possible by basically just running through every level without the feel and quick saving after every enemy

Doom 3 felt longer becuase it got boring and kept on dragging. It's just like time flies by when you are playing video games but takes ages when it's just a one hour school lesson. At times I could have sworn I had wasted more than 3 hours doing nothing in the same area scanning every nook and cranny and still my overall gameplay time was around 17 hours.

There we MUCH Better area's and monsters later on in the game. Delta labs especially, where the game picked back up AGAIN. Well i can say you missed a LOT. the Pace of the game changes after alpha labs. Infact the last 2 alpha labs even bored me. After alpha labs it was awesome and started to make me jump a lot again ...
