It would be hard but they did say in an interview (I believe, I read it somewhere) that they fully expect people to just wander around for hours.

But they must have been the G-Man's puppets. Why would you willingly suppress a small invasion if you knew a bigger one was comming? Or did the black mesa invasion succeed? I haven't actually played HL single player in a while ... I think it's about time I do again.
Yeah but the people who currently play most of these mods aren't going to go out and buy all the sequels. it's just too much money for games that are so similar.
I think they should keep most as mods. Make a free version for MP only at least. As long as I don't buy HL2 then have to pay another $70 for DoD2 (hopefully) I'll be happy.
I was just watching the barricade bink vid again and I noticed that not all buildings are accessible. This isn't exactly a huge surprise, but you can tell just by looking at the fake windows. i think they would make this much more realistic.

That sub that's beached is obviously very old. The tides may have changed since it was destroyed. Also, there may have been a climatic event that changed water patterns, etc. you can see a monorail track or something there ... it's not very tall so there could not be that much water that comes...
I think the MP will emerge a while after HL2 releases. I usually play mods a hell of a lot more than the HL DM ... so I think we will need to wait for these mods to emerge.
