Hey all!
I have just compiled my map and have noticed that there are some weird visual errors when I walk away from my main lobby. I have included pics so you can see what I am talking about (1st has the errors, 2nd is view from hammer).
Basically, when I turn towards the center of my map...
So I am making a building and I would like some of the objects from office in css. Can I extract them from the GCF or are they encrypted so that when extracted they will be useless?
Also, where would I put the models?
So, my VMF file is about 2 MB, but compiled the bsp is 15 mb!
The map is very detailed, has three floors (all open to each other where the stairs are) with a glass pyramid at the top. I am guessing just that fact makes the map big, but I am wondering if anyone knows if certain things create...

Any hints on where to put hints? How about the odd shapped places for glass on the top pyramid, any suggestions?
Wow, all I have to say is my compile time (without vvis=fast) is HUGE. It seems like it would be many hours. My bsp is ~5MB. How big is 'too' big for DM maps (in MB)? It is too slow to wait for so I have to set vvis to fast. Anyone have any reasons? I have an Athlon 1700+, so that seems to...

Well, you remember that when CSS is started (w/console) it said "source engine beta"? Now it is "Counter-Strike:Source"!
No more beta engine! I think this is what was unlocked in HL2.
I can't find the hydra model in the files . . . but it was in the leaked alpha. They most likely took it out. There was never a full model of a hydra, just the arm thing.
