yes it may not be worht it but some people dont got the option... so if getting the game via steam isnt a option and you prefer the game to be on dvd (at least in the us) you will have to buy the ce

make sure the disc is in the drive.. when you play.. unfortuanatly the retail versions do have the requirement of having the cd/dvd in the drive..

the ce comes with a guide sampler that contains some of the strat guide you get with the gold and a part of raising the bar

i do admit there is sound glitches but its a minor issue the game is still fun

as of choosing where to install it the only way to choose is to change the directory that steam is installed to

you dont need to do product registration right away... you can go on to the next step w/o registering the game.. it will post a link in the start menu that will allow you to do it at a later time as of the cdkey steam process that wont happen till all the files are installed

just be patient.... i am at subscription pending with my ce retail but it will allow me to play the game..

you know some piraters found a way around the online play by making cracked servers... a pirated copy could go online as long as the pirater is connecting to a server that is cracked

If it was a hardware related problem chances are that it would happen on every game you play. since this problem only comes up on hl2 and seems to be the people who got the game via steam then its possible that its something wrong with the preload information

the standard dvd your talking about is uk only... as all games that normally would take multiple cds always get released on dvd....

if your plannign on running a cs:s server you will need to give the game full permissions
