    CPU requirements - confused

That would be a start, although if you went socket 754, If you do not want to run into this again too soon and you really want to upgrade your cpu/mobo now. I would save a little more $$$ and go with a Athlon 64 2800+ or 3000+

MSI's tech support was denying that the MSI message boards had anything posted on the forums about the MS7030 (K8N NEo Platinum) this was while I was on the message boards reading post, after post of the same poblem I was having. The os would NOT load after copying the files to the HDD, this...

    CPU requirements - confused

Asus, I was making a point thats it :) Upgrading your ram was a good idea, and saving for a new system down the road. Someone else said this (before the flame bs went on) and the post was deleted. If yocan however pop a "newer" P4 on that same board, that would be a decent performance boost...

    IDE 120GB 7200RPM or SATA 80GB

The 7200 rpm 8mb cache SATA drive in my machine is noticeably faster than my old ATA 133 drive. Its a Western Digital and its hella quiet, I always went with Samsung for silent HDD, or Seagate for pure speed. But I would HIGHLY recomend a 80 gig WD SATA drive! ! !

    Amds

I just built my new machine, and alothough the motherboard was a b*tch to get going with a XP Pro install, this is one KICK ASS machine, it is so f*cking fast! ! ! The 64 3000+ is a great price also! ! ! Just get a Asus board, or if you do go MSI, go with the Via KT800 chipset.

    need sum quick advice plz

I would avoid that POWERCOLOR card at all costs! I would go with an MSI for less $$$ and they use the R360 core so thay can be OC'd to XT speeds. You might also want to look into a Sapphire, because they are very good also. Everything else seems to be very well balanced. . . Kudos :) Have fun

    New mobo/cpu without reformatting.

I do this at my shop when people do not want to pay for a reload of there OS, this was in 98SE however. I would delete my "enum" in the registry and simply reboot after the new mobo and such were in there. This was actually the only way to do this the "right" way if you were upgrading from an...

QUOTE: I'm here from the future to warn you. Don't buy the X800 XT PE or the 6800 Ultra. In the very near future these video cards are powerful enough to create their own skynet computer system. Computers, robots and machines are taking over the world. Meanwhile, the Earth Defense Forces...
