funny story about how my friend reformatted, i put his steam cache back on his machine off my external hdd, steam didn't recognize the files, and we had to start at zero because i accidentally deleted the backups... oops.
but it's been about two and a half hours, and he's at 44 percent. good...
i'd also recommend reading their "how do we score" section. It's very interesting, and actually worth reading. I'm a GS Complete member, and I find their reviews to be far more reliable than almost any american gaming media.

watch out though, I don't think gamespot will be bound by the same no spoiler rules that the mags were. I know that they will be publishing a video review that will probably be around 15 minutes and full of game footage. the Halo 2 video review was full of HUGE spoilers.

just a note, if you can't see the countdown, and you're a complete member, it's because gamespot has taken all the flash motion out of the complete site.
complete members saw the countdowns as ads, so you'll have to log out to see the countdown.
what you should do is take the far cry game cd, break it in half, install HL1, and play through it until HL2 is out.
seriously, far cry was one of the most disappointing games i have ever played.
I got my HL2 guide with my gold package on saturday. After seeing three spoilers i didn't want to see, I gave it to my girl to hold onto for a while :)
I'm sure the contract between Valve and Vivendi stiplulates broken street dates. Also, if the street date is in fact no longer valid, that may have been a Vivendi decision. If that is the case, then Valve has every right to release now.
