Steampowered kicked us out! Ooh the excitement!

They just shut off the Steampowered.com forums due to high traffic. The buzz is that the status pages shows an update about to be released. Oooh, I hope this is what I think it is.
 
Definatley an update, I just hope it's the activation.

It will probably end up being the full SDK, and everyone will be completely pissed off. :LOL:
 
Yeah the moment i saw it i thought....... Launched steam but nothing :(

the date IS the 16th..however, the street date was broken yesterday. You can find it everywhere here in town now. If they closed steampowered...the games coming....those "spikes" were damn huge.

I really don't care if i get my hopes up and it's nothing, because if it isn't, it comes out in 2 days anyways! :bounce:

It would make alot of sense, the publishers are the only ones benefitting from the early retail release.
 
Didnt that multiplayer rumor say just before or just after ... just kidding, any form of update on a saturday would be a big thing, usually they wait till the monday.
 
After purchasing Halflife 2 at Best Buy today I called valve via the phone number on their web page and entered in the extension for Doug Lombardi and here is a paraphrase of our conversation, I apologize I couldn't record but I have a cellphone and no way to record it.

Doug: Doug Lombardi, how may I help you.

Me: Hey, I purchased Half Life 2 at a Best Buy today and I can't play the game, should I take it back?

Doug: No, what happened is that the game needs to be authenticated, and the servers to do this are not up yet. They should be soon, I can't tell you exactly when, but hopefully within the next day or two.

Me: Thank you, have a good day

Doug: No problem, you too.

HL2 forum junkies are beggining to amass, i love it when this happens, its so exciting and the forums go so slow you dont know whats going on ;)
 
I think they will unlock it today cause else everyone that bought the game will return it to the shop on monday ;)

give it 2 more hours...if it isn't out then, then it won't be out until tuesday...but i think the possibility is very great that it will be tonight.
 
It's either:
a) The rest of the SDK
b) Some big Counter-strike: Source update
c) The so unlikely possibility that Half-life 2 will be unlocked tonight.

Hmmmm... Doesn't Valve usually update on weekdays? This is a bit strange...

It really serously does look like the game is about to be unlocked. And I quite frankly dont know how to deal with the exitement.

if it gets unlocked on steam tonight i'm gonna be pissed... because i won't be able to pick up my copy till tomorrow afternoon :|

OMFG, you guys are getting your hopes up, it will be out tuesday, that's only two days away (YAY!!!). The authentication servers are probably being put up, so don't be surprised if it isn't an early release.

Dont forget VAC2 and the engine files for HL2.
 
lol. If it was a regular update, why'd they close the forums? Aren't these forums on some of the same servers?
 
yeah these forums are slow. raped. in fact expect a few hours of it while the steampowered forum goers look here for answers
 
I doubt it's a major CSS update since they said they were going to wait until December to release new maps, models, etc.
