Fast, but pointless. You can buy 2 8800GT's for less than one of those, so unless you don't have a board with 2 x PCI-E 16x slots then you can get faster for less. Plus, one 8800GTS or GTX should be sufficient for most. Unless you have a 24 inch monitor upwards the perceived performance...
I was just using overclockers as an example, shop wherever you wish !
Overclocked 9600GT's are pretty close to the 8800GT. True about stock though, a bit further off. But for 30 quid less than the nearest 8800GT, it is a serious bargain for the performance. The framerates in most games at the...
I wouldn't spend 180 odd on an overclocked 8800GT, i'd get a standard 8800GT for around 140-150 and if overclocking was required, i'd do that myself. The overclock on those BFG cards is by no means huge, and would easily be obtainable on most cards, if not more.
Or, the new 9600GT performs...
That's not true. Pci-e motherboards have been out over 2 and a half years, my motherboard is over 2 years old and wasn't even one of the first pci-e motherboards on the scene. This guy needs to give use some actual information on the slot type otherwise this discussion is somewhat pointless.
I'm guessing that canalphones is the canadian variant of the word for what i'm thinking of then, in which case i mis-understood you !! Know nothing about skullcandy, but they do seem a little too showy, which does make me slightly sceptical..
The sennheiser CX300's as mentioned earlier are great budget in-ear headphones, have bought a set of these and so far very impressed, would definitely recommend them:

Yup, works in retail version of the game. As the above poster says, back up the config files that you are going to change before you change them, that way you can always return to normal settings if it all goes pear shaped !!
The following guide should be of some use...
If you really want to obtain a playable framerate in Crysis you need either pretty high end hardware, or you need to get your hands dirty with the config files, as there are plentiful options that may be tampered with to obtain a decent balance of framerate and eyecandy.
See link for tweakage...
Firstly, your DDR is rated at DDR400 (PC3200) as you have in your sig, so there is no reason why they should have to run at DDR333 other than the motherboard auto-detecting the speed incorrectly. Secondly, as you overclock the CPU via the FSB, the speed that your ram is working at also...
I was running through the demo last night with the very high "hack" as it were (editing the .cfg files to replace the high settings values with the very high values) and it looked absolutely gorgeous.
However, 1600 x 1200 with very high on an athlon 64 @ 2.75, 2gb ram and an 8800GTS @ 620/2120...
That most likely means that you are experiencing a cpu limitation of some sort. Is your cpu overclocked ? If not, then i wouldn't mind betting you'd see an incremental increase in fps whilst overclocking until eventually your game became gpu limited.
Don't agree with that. Most cards from recent years don't take quite that large a hit from aa anyway, and given those performance reviews, cards such as the 7xxx series etc and upwards should be able to run the game at a decent resolution with high settings. And besides, will they actually...
Are you using a usb keyboard or the old stylee connectors ? I found that sometimes usb keyboards could do that and reverting to an older keyboard with the old style of connector meant key presses were registered in those circumstances. Just an idea anyways.
Nice find Asus. That is indeed quite a jump from the 8800GTS to the 2900XT and 8800GTX !
;(
From peoples banter in many a forum i'd gotten the impression that the game benefits greatly from a multi-core system, and this shows that there is a significant benefit over single core systems. I...
Unfortunately SLI can be luck of the draw when it comes to games that can utilize it properly and others that can't. Some games do actually run better with one card.
Have you checked any dedicated WIC forums for any issues with performance ?
