There is all kinds of conventions held there all the time. The LA International Auto Show is there every year in Jan for example. I've been in there numerous times (not for E3). Parking is the worst. I had to drive around for about an hour to find parking. If there is a Laker game going on...

I rented and finished it. Amazing game. I definitley recommend it. Amishslayer has a point though. Without multiplayer, there is no replay value IMO.
