old news swiss!
that URL was found a long time ago, it's nothing... and everyone knows valve put all the tests under http://www.half-life2.com/secret/
I personallly think it's good they're working harder on releasing and not so much on "tests"
That's the right idea, but not how they said they'd do it. The .wav files are just normal sound files (i'm 99% sure), to do the lip synching they have a program that lets you load the character and wav and then type in what they're saying.. the program then extracts the phonemes and applies that...
I bet they release it just as soon as they have it completely ready.
And i think the pre-loading will go like this;
Phase 3 - Models
Phase 4 - Maps
Phase 5 - Engine and game dll's, etc (eg. game is released)
It's alright, Fuzzy pays my internet bills, and the Government is paying my rent. Now i've got all the time in the world to make dystopia exactly the way i want it!
I think this is a pretty bad estimate. I can't speak for other mods, but Dystopia is planned to release much, much sooner than 2 years.. I won't do anything silly like give out an inaccurate release date, but suffice to say I've left my job and am working on our mod full time now :)
From what I can tell, teamradeon is just a fan site, and that guy is just a fan. Does anyone have any proof of his association with valve (by way of ATI)?
p.s. i've got a sneaking suspicion that the entry to the second test is:
http://www.half-life2.com/test/
obviously the password nova/prospekt dosen't work, but mabey it's an encoded version of this? or mabey the release date for the second test has slipped to? ;)
The I.P. address was from a open web proxy, running off some poor guy's jimi hendrix merchendise website. So anyone could have done it, they'll have a hard time tracking it. It could have been gabe posting through that proxy no-one knows.
Your silly theory is really flawed in my humble...
and just to set the cat amonst the pidgeons, i'm believe half-life 2 is built on top of the half-life 1 engine, meaning there might still be some quake1 code in there somewhere... heck, most of the cvars are exactly the same (and did anyone notice the q3 commands in doom3?)
i don't know if...
