Okay, a combination of a few of those things seems to have fixed it. I also forgot about a few regular lights that I had been using outdoors to create some additional fake radiosity.TY all.
Is there some way to automatically adjust the brightness/color of the skybox without having to manually alter the textures?
I'm using some photo-reference to reproduce a realistic sun/sky, and I like the current skybox from HL2, but it needs to either be brighter, or have more color saturation...
Is there some way to reduce the brightness of non-sunlit areas? It seems all the sunlight shadow areas are too bright (the indoors are okay).
I've tried ajust the sunlight's ambient brightness setting, but it makes absolutely no difference for some reason.
I would just to invite everyone to the last online playtest of DM_Plaza17, Sunday night at 8pm Pacific, 11pm Eastern time on ESPN... I mean on my server.
All are invited. Just download the beta map (from this direct link) and put the file in:

I think Gabe was just saying that it's "like" an HL3, because it continues the story rather than showing a different perspective of the same thing. If he's serious, which I never once thought for a moment, the gaming world would be confused as heck when Valve announced that next they were...
Being that Valve created it from scratch, I think they've fallen in love with it too much, and will keep it with them. But now that it's finished, it's much easier to upgrade it, as with the Unreal Engine.
Unreal is still built on essentially the same premise as the original Unreal engine (Ive...
Why does everyone think it would take another 12 years to complete a full-length Half-Life game?
Episode 2 is already almost DONE (Gamespy: TBA 2006). There are only four months left in 2006.
Half-Life 2 came out in November 2004, so that means that it took exactly 2 years to make another 12...
They're very, very similar, but I doubt Valve was thinking of Starship Troopers when they created them. It's too easy to say, "we need something new, like giant bugs or something fun to shoot."
I figured the HEV suit acted as a heavy shield to some degree... but yes, it is a little confusing to see yourself survive a hit from one of those ingame, as if it were nothing... so, since the game never says anything about the HEV suit being insanely effective in war (I mean, it's a hazardous...
No need to go into retirement making a new engine and new story and everything. All they have to do is combine Ep1 and Ep2 to make the next chapter in the Half-Life saga. Half-Life 1 was like "The Hobbit" (Gordon), and Half-Life 2 was like "The Fellowship of the Combine"... and Ep1 and 2...
Does anyone know of a place to get good gamer's merchandise?
I tried running a cafepress shop (see sig), just so I could make my own goods, but, when the year subscription is over, I'll be shutting it down, and looking for a website that hopefully sells more of this stuff. It's strange that...
Episode 1 has some great gameplay, make no mistake,... but lacks the fanfare and sense of grandeur and scale of a full Half-Life game. All they had to do was combine Ep1 and 2 and they'd have another Half-Life 2. Instead, all they have is gameplay sampling. It's good, but that's ALL it is...
