    Best map?

The same still happens with TF2, where half the maps aren't played. It's because people are retards who prefer to play the same thing over and over and stay in their comfort zone, not because Valve haven't made good maps for TF2 and Counter-Strike. There were some very poor maps for CSS, I'll...

    "...ten new weapons..."

I saw this weird timed explosive thingy that might be the pipebomb I suppose, but it looked a bit more high-tech than your average homemade pipebomb. It had beeps and everything. Check to everything else on your list. The SMG was either an Uzi or a micro-Uzi. Some sort of Mac10-alike. I...

    Left 4 Dead Preview

I went on Tuesday and totally missed it, so I don't blame you. They only had 1 set of 4 machines tucked away in the '18' section in the middle of the floor in a mass of about 10 or 12 Fallout 3 machines. There was even one guy who passed it with his mates, they asked what game it was and he...

    Left 4 Dead Preview

Yeah but I may still need to upgrade my CPU, plus the graphical effects are a massive WANT on. 128 will cut it, but if you can afford it I would advise going higher. I'm eager to see how/if the demo runs on my current system.

    Left 4 Dead Preview

lmao, I think I was getting the Fallout 3 'Oblivion with guns' reference mixed up with the Left 4 Dead 'Counter-Strike with zombies' comment.

    Left 4 Dead Preview

I played this today at the London Games Expo (3 of the 4 were friends) and it really is ****ing fantastic and incredibly polished. I'll write more tomorrow, but it exceeded my expectations. I was very dubious about it beforehand, now this is a must buy. Videos don't really do it justice, and I...

I, erm, got Badwater and Badlands mixed up. I'll shut up now!

    Best map?

It has 'Other', and there is a limit to the number of vote options so I think the list given is more than fair. I voted Badlands because it's very solid. I also like how it's not always over when you're pushed back to the last point. I've had some complete turnarounds from defending the last...

Fallout 3 Available For Pre-Purchase on Steam

I think I'm gonna try to pick up the Survival Edition (Pipboy 3000 alarm clock plus lunchbox plus Pipboy bobblehead figurine anyone?) I can't remember if it's a US exclusive, though. Might try to pick it up on import or pay extortionate postage for it. :/

    Left-Behind: recruiting

The guys who did Counter-Strike Source were Valve, and they got the idea from the mod some of their employees previously worked on: Counter-Strike. So really it's not a lot of programming, it could be an ideal project for a teach-yourself programmer to start. Also now we know it's not a...

    Team Fortress 2 Update

Fixed. Also I noticed 3(?) minor changes to Granary when playing it last night. The layout looks identical, but in addition they have added in 4 small medpacks and some cover. There are now small medpacks on the floor of the ramp rooms just outside CP3 and (if they weren't already there -...

    Team Fortress 2 Update

Strange that they took the gates back out of Granary. Without them Scout rushes would win the middle point every damn time and because of the design around CP2 it's very difficult to fight back. Unlike Badlands, which has more flowing routes from CP2 to CP3, Granary CP3 to CP2 all goes through a...

    Best way to learn mapping?

In terms of practising, I'd recommend first making something you are familiar with: it could be a church, it could be a famous place, it could be your house. This is only really useful when learning the very basics. Next you need to find a game mode you enjoy and make a map for it. This could...

So, no vids then? I could talk and talk about how I screwed up my A-levels playing CS, but that won't make me a god at CSS now. You're bigging yourself up now as the 'epitome of the class'. Let's see some evidence of you as the epitome of the class in the game this forum is dedicated to. Please...

In Defense of the Spy (bring it on Drookles)

A weapon doesn't need to be stealthy for it to be effective. You're probably one of those idiot Spies who stands around watching while the CP gets capped instead of pulling out your pistol and defending the point: all because the revolver is somehow beneath you... please. Vids or it never...

Sounds good, but why do you need modelers and coders for a Half-Life mod that's essentially a mappack?

In Defense of the Spy (bring it on Drookles)

Shot for shot it's not as powerful as an unscoped sniper rifle, but it fires more rapidly so your statement is more or less correct. The revolver is not inelegant. It's damn awesome and let's you go toe-to-toe with single enemies. Every Spy makes errors, that doesn't mean they're all bumbling...
