I'm going to have to add another vote to tool. Unless its a ripoff *cough*doom3themesong=lateralus/eulogy*cough* there just isnt anything that sounds like it. The fact that they have a relatively large audience with no publicity is proof :)
You have to build the cubemaps in the game only after you compile the map. You only have to do this once per compile, so after that you wont need to do it anymore. Its only because hammer doesnt have the proper 3d engine to build reflection maps.
Another way to make it seem as if the gunship is exploding could be to parent env_explosion entities to the gunship and set them to go off when it hits a certain path point or after a certain amount of time.
You can stop the ladder sounds, but that would require either altering the code to not play a sound or have an option to, or by removing the actual sound file, which would of course effect ALL ladders.
It sounds like the blobs problem is caused by an incorrect filename for a red glow sprite used by the gravity gun. This is the line to pay attention to: Precache of sprites/redglow1 ambigious (no extension specified)

Somehow i can't see Gman fighting gordon, HL series "boss fights" are usually huge creatures that need to be defeated tactically, gman is human sized and has a suitcase... no real weapons. Unless of course he is really in disguise and reveals himself as a combine advisor or something else more...

use a func_door and set its slide direction, speed, distance, etc. by default itll open on touch, you can set tags to be by using it or by trigger only.
