    i've had the problem with system hangs after closing out the material editor before. ended up fixing the problem by formatting and starting all over. A little dratic but whe you've been working on a model for many hours and suddenly the file corrupts because of a crash it makes me want to cry.

    while true it would be much harder and take longer to do with Box modeling the results would be well wort the extra effort. post a wirframe of the model and change it to a grey color so we can see better what we are looking at and it will make it easier to point out areas that could be touched...

    yeah i'm certain the heiht is coorect as well as the width but the length is definatley off after checking a few perspective ref pics. i was thinking this gun was about the lenght of an average arm when in reality it's onlt about elbow to finger length long... very accurate measuremnts eh?

    making the assumption that its max. Chamfer doesn't round edges it turns a right angle int to 45's. to make it apear round you have to adjust the smoothing groups. Even adusting the smoothing won't neccesarily solve your dilema. if it's abosulutely neccesary that it be completely smooth then...

    i'm not a huge fan of spline modeling (as i can never get it to work :) however there are some goo 3dsMAX tuts on 3dBuzz especially the car modeling tutorial by.... name escapes me but he did a custom wagon and a lotus elise. Someone must know which one i'm talking about

    that PC does not appear to be TRI's. convert the model t editablemesh and get the PC count that way. It's going to be at the least double you current number. Also you mentioned that you have two objects in th mesh; for future refernce your Poly count will be much lower and you mesh will flow...

    We,mysely and [flixz], modeled two different versions of the same gun. A lot of the polys in mine are not seen in the render because they went into creating a lot of detail at handle area. I'm pretty sure i got the dimension of this weapon correctly as i've not been able to see it at an angle...
