Me neither. He hasn't posted in almost two weeks.

I took a break from the forum back then. ;) That’s probably why.

/Shaker gives this thread a massive kick

Silent Hunter III got voted Sim of the Year by both IGN and Gamespy.

Wow, nice to see!

lol, we were quite worried back then as you can see.

Heh, yeah.

I'm here to stay though as long as HL2.net is alive, as it has a great community. :)

It's gonna be in the Pacific, but it's unsure which side of the conflict. Marketing-wise the US side would be the best idea, but from a game perspective the Nips might be a cool side to play. They had some big ass subs, including one that could carry 4 sea-planes. It was designed for an attack on the Panama canal (that never happened of course). The Dutch were also involved in the Pacific sub-war. If that nationality is playable I am gonna call my sub the Flying Dutchman.

Totally forgot about this game...

Is it worth getting for someone whose into arcadey games?

Or should I stay away in fear of 900 controls?

I am usually into first person shooters myself, but this game is so immersive it had me hooked for over a month non stop. Yes, the learning curve is quite steap, but after you mastered the basics, it's smooth sailing. You can alter a lot of different difficulty settings, so it's playable for both n00bs and hardcore subsimmers. It's a must buy and you can prolly get it for 10 or 20 dollars now. That's a bargain for such a good game. There are also tons of different mods around and it has a big and loyal community.

yeah i was like you with this game, i dont play sims at all and i'm more a console gamer but had great fun with sh3, you can tweak the difficulty to your liking too and like shaker said theres tonnes of mods.

Awesome, I'll pick it up later on today.
What type of mods are out for it?

Wow, you guys just had to bump this thread didn't you. I love SH3. I think once I get the PC up and running again I'll have to reinstall this one and waste several more months of my life playing it. Very fun game. I hope I can get back into it without a huge dropoff.
