Acti-Blizz restructuring, assigns new executive to Blizzard

What was wrong with MW2? How was it ****ed up?
No dedicated servers.

Broken as hell gameplay.

Protect your sense of what game devs are (I know, you know people at Relic) until you're blue in the face, but you can't deny that MW2 was a disappointment to pretty much any gamer over 16 years old.

$60 for PC.

It's April 1st, guys. Good job 6Three.

Kotick has no respect for art. He is a businessman to the core, and sees Blizzard, Infinity Ward, and all his subordinate developer houses as nothing but money factories. He is a fantastic businessman, and a horrible person. Simple as that. If you want to hold an arbitrary social trope like "businessman" to an absurdly high ideal in the face of ethical mismanagement and borderline cultural destruction, go ahead.

Does not having dedicated servers really justify all the rage? I play MW2 all the time, my ping is great, all the maps are great (I personally could care less what map I play on). My experience has been great.

Broken as hell gameplay.

Elaborate please.

Relic/THQ are too afraid to make something new, I don't envy them.

but you can't deny that MW2 was a disappointment to pretty much any gamer over 16 years old.

Have you asked every one of the millions of gamers who bought the game? The people who post on gaming sites are a minority.

I'm not trolling.

Okay, just making sure :p But I still stand by the rest of what I said.

You are trolling because you're being lazy. This shit has been posted on the forum countless times.

This has probably been nerfed somewhat (I don't keep track), but broken shit like this that was INTENDED to be this way. Or at the very least, they barely thought it out.

Gameplay in general: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showpost.php?p=3126830&postcount=82

Problem with lack of dedicated: the cheating protection in the game is basically non existant. People with hacked games are being ALLOWED to play. Limited number of players = small maps = horrible gameplay.

The game reminds me of HL2DM on release, tbh.

Sigh. I explained my views in the link to my other post.

Smaller maps (generally) mean more chokepoints means limited options. It either becomes a two way hallway fight, a spawn camp fest, or a circular grenade/tube rush game.

Again, I'm am well aware of what has been posted in the past by other people. I don't care about what other people say, I want your personal thoughts.

**EDIT** I didn't read the link you posted, will comment.

What are you showing me?

People with hacked games are being ALLOWED to play.

Every game has cheaters, suck it up champ.

Limited number of players = small maps = horrible gameplay.

Hate to break this to you, but that "horrible gameplay" IS Call of Duty. It's always been about deathmatch. It was fine in MW1, but not in MW2?

Let it stand that 63 is too lazy to watch a video that clearly explains a broken setup in a shooter.

I watched an 8 minute long gameplay session. Let it stand that Viper links random videos.

Listen to the goddamn commentary ffs.

I'ma stop feeding you, this is getting tiresome.

(generally)
That's all I wanted to hear :p It's more a symptom of a game design that hasn't been fully thought out than anything. Games with smaller numbers of players can be done extremely well... but MW2 is not one of them.

[edit] 6three, come on. I can only intrepret your posts in this thread as trolling, a dead-horse April Fool's joke, or intentional ignorance.

You're a dog how can you even think about this

*Gasp* somebody doesn't agree with you on the intertubes, they must be a troll!

Why didn't you say that in the first place? So we have some kid whining about the chopper, and? Positive feedback loops have been in games for decades. It's a conscious decision to put them in the game, like it or not, it's as designed.

I already bought MW [1] and although it was pretty cool, it was just short and linear, and I got bored of it faster than any game in memory. So you can understand I wasn't terribly excited about buying MW2. Not really big on sequels, personally.

Removing mod tools? Bah that's BS

Single-player campaign: 6 hours

They decided they needed to charge 20% more for this game after removing important features, then they didn't even pay the lead developers who made it. That said, after playing Activision games since I was about 7 years old playing Pitfall on the 2600, I probably won't buy another Activision game.

There are more problems with the game that others have with it, but these are some of mine. Who cares? Well, you asked.

If you responded to anything in this thread with something that wasn't a) sarcasm, b) subtly switching the topic, or c) devoid of facts, observation, or analysis, then I might see where you were coming from.

Nobody said they weren't. And if someone had said that, we would have been a little suspicious of their ability to think.

It's a conscious decision to put them in the game, like it or not, it's as designed.
So... we're not supposed to argue the balance of faulty/unbalanced feedback systems in a game that has received balance patches in the past, on a platform that supports and encourages balance patches, for a game whose balance has been repeatedly and objectively shown to be broken, by fans, detractors, players, trolls, journalists, and developers alike... because that's the state the game was released in.

Brilliant!

Yeah, that's one of the largest things I dislike about MW2, and is thus preventing me from buying it.

Killstreaks. I mean, seriously? Something that is almost completely skill-less *You have to click on a point in the map to drop bombs, or fly that chopper around and get some easy kills on the unsuspecting* but for the most part, bah! If there was a mod that took those out, then hell yeah but wait....no mod tools!? bah again.

There are other things, but that will always be my largest gripe.

Lol ok you guys got me, I can't do this anymore haha. I promised myself I would keep this going until midnight, but I just can't :)

MW2 is a spammy cluster**** and the only thing I enjoyed was the SP.

Nothing that Kotick has stated ever surprised me, as it's a pretty accurate representation of the mainstream game industry's (specifically publishers) attitude towards profit-driven decisions that affect development on all levels.

The only thing notable is his blunt and open talk of this and his insensitivity.

I see nothing in here about how you also agree that Kotick is a sonofabitch who deserves to lose everything he loves and cherishes (money, and possibly his life).

hi kotick, how are you?

HA HA!

I can safely say that in Australia, it's hard to notice if some company is exploiting sales since everything here is overpriced.

If life was a movie, Kotick would be that bastard hotshot who steps on everyone's toes throughout life, but gets what's coming to him in the end. You feel good deep inside when bad things start to happen to him. What a great feel good movie at the end.

If only.

Kotick will run his wells dry then exit out with a golden parachute.

I like the idea of gamers across the world uniting on Kotick's front lawn to piss on his mansion and expensive things.

Butt Rape Kotick. Piss in his face. poop on his money.

Yeah, then after that we'll humiliate him (joking).

Why are threats non-infractionable on HL2.net?

That said, I hate Kotick as much as the next guy. Luckily, my brain's still functioning, so I'll enjoy all the great games of the past instead of the diluted excretions of the present. Still a lot of them to go through.

After 12 noon you're the fool.

We'll see if Activision influences Blizzard in any way.

Blizzard, like Valve, is known for their incredibly long development schedule. I wonder if this move was made to rush these guys.

That would be the worst thing for Blizzard. The only reason their games are so excellent is because they take so much time polishing it.
