I'm a bit of a Hayao Miyazaki fan - Spirited Away is probably my fave, Mononoke is also class. Actually, they're all worth a watch - Totoro is lovely, Porco Rosso and Castle in the sky are good fun etc

Akira is obviously great, and i've a soft spot for Ninja Scroll.

Well i still need 2 get mor anime but its Full Metal Panic 4 me

Mononoke all the way. Miyazaki is ace.

Not really a fan of most anime, but I religiously read the manga for Bobobo-bo Bobobo. Hilarity.

Naruto > every other anime.

Naruto also happens to have the best music. The characters are so deep that they could probably branch out into at least 10 mini-series following a different character each time.

It's weird you should say that, I have a soft spot for Ninja Scroll too. There's nothing especially amazing about it, but I've watched it loads of times, and it's about the only anime movie where I can stomach watching the dubbed version.

Akira, is, obviously, great.

2nd on evangelion.
and currently im reading naruto manga jus cuz i like to waste my life that way :S

There was some anime vampire movie I always used to rent when I was a kid, but the only detail I can remember is the main vampire having a baby (?) with some woman, and then getting set up when he meets her in a church, where steel shutters with crucifixes painted on them drop down over the windows. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I've always wondered what that was.

That and Inhumanoids were probably the only two things I rented from that video store. Wait, and those Critters movies.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - hands down one of the most thought-provoking anime ever, I thought it was funny how the movies were made to help make a simpler ending, but the movies are still confusing, though utterly beautiful
Cowboy Bebop and Knockin' On Heaven's Door (which they shouldn;t have taken off the US version) - There's just such a huge cool factor to the whole thing, and the unaired episode is very good if anyone hasn;t seen it, really expands on the characters, and the movie is just absurdly beautiful and cool, the fight scenes in it are choreographed better than most martial arts movies, and the camera angles are better
Trigun - the only series I can watch dubbed and really enjoy it, the dub they did was damn good, this series I've watched the most times, it's serious, but funny, and in just the right dose, and Vash and Wolfwood just rock
Grave of the Fireflies - being a guy I don;t cry at movies, I just don't, well, I cried near the end of Grave of the Fireflies, and not just like one little tear, it was bad, the movie is just so emotionally powerful, I've only been able to watch it once because it was so sad, but still, a movie everyone should watch, even if they're heartless bastards like me

series: nothing can beat Evangelion best ever!
Movie: prolly Princess Mononoke, Spriggan was pretty damn kool too

they're making a live action movie out of Evangelion, i dont think its final yet, but they're looking for ppl.. i guess thats how u put it.
im hoping its good, cuz, its evangelion.. :D
if they screw it up im going postal

Can't stand anime.

Every single series is the same.

Recipe for Anime series
1x Teenager with anonymous powers (Fast reflexes, psychic powers, cyborg implants etc.)

5x Gigantic really cool looking robots

3x Writers diagnosed with depression

1x Totally insane director who tries to cram as much philosophy into a scene as he can which ends up confusing 99.99& of the audience (The remaining .01& only get it after they've watched it a few more times and have posted on IMDB.com about it)

1x Storyline that starts off well then goes straight down the crapper

1x Anti-climax.

20x Gratutitous Hentai scenes.

Throw idea to Madman and wait a year or two before release

that pretty much summarizes all of them. Except Spirited Away, that was really good.

just out of pure hilarity The only 2 anime shows i could really sit down and watch are YUGIOH and DBZ and out of nostalgia id watch pokemon, not the crappy new ones were they take an old pokemon and give them a giant penis on thier forhead or armor or crap like that, I'd watch the first season...possibly 2nd and 3rd.

I like Manuké Zaramichi.

No, actually, I'm not a big fan of anime.

I've been watching the subtitled versions of Sailor Moon lately. They're so much better than the dubbed versions. The S season is just class.

Trigun is great, and FLCL is even better

Sometimes the symbolism in trigun is heavyhanded, but the story arcs extremely well, and FLCL tries a bit hard in places to be wierd but both are excellent, and I've seen a shitload of anime, all those mentioned so far and more. I always have a softspot for NGE, as it was the first anime I ever saw.

NGE - undoubtably a masterpeice. Especially the characterisation. Most of the characters had more depth then most people I know. Just check out the way Gendo is looking at yah. That mans face has been in my nightmares countless times.
The NGE live action movie is gonna be a peice of westernized crap by the rumours Ive heard. Rei wont even have blue hair. *shakes head in digust*. And it's all because of the capitalists.

I forgot Boogiepop Phantom, an awesome anime if you like having to think, and you'll have to watch it several times to get everything, I still don't get it all and I've watched it at least 4 times now, but it's short enough that you can view it multiple times and not have to take weeks to do it

i dont know why, i just never have liked anime...

they dont catch my eye :|

And what about Animatrix ? I think its a great anime or not ?

I enjoyed the Animatrix, I thought it fleshed out the Matrix universe very well and overall it was just entertaining and even thought provoking. Much like any anime.

I used to be obsessed with anime (a typical internet otaku) but in the past few years my interest has waned.

I still love Akira, Hellsing, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis: Evangelion, the Animatrix, Gundam Wing (stfu, it's great), and a couple of others.

My friend rants about FLCL, by the way. Manga, though.
