Another DE:IW thread

now thats untrue. just because a few people in this small forum dont like a game completely different from the name of the forum (HL2) it doesnt mean that the majority of the world agrees with you, abom.

I've been with the Deus Ex community for a long time, and let me tell you right now that alot of them don't think it's a good sequel either.

just because it is different from the origonal doesnt mean its a bad game. sometimes you have to let go and move on, but there will allwayse be a minority of hardcore fans which will cling on to the naustalgia of the previos game. a lot of the forum goers dislike deus ex 2, but a lot of people also love IW. Its too hard to tell from a few forum dwellers who all worship a game. Abom, you mix with ppl who love DE, and so its natural that they dislike changes. You do not, howeveer, know enough people from enough backgrounds to give the required evidence to prove that IW is officially shit. Just as i do not know enough ppl to say that it is amazing (which i think). That is why, if you notice, i am taking a neutral position in saying that the game is not shit, but not amazing.

That's a pretty bad concept. You could apply it to any awful game, say like Daikatana. You don't know enough people that hate it, so it can't really be considered a bad game... right? Hmm...

what makes it awful? the fact that the ammo is universal? a feature that increases the strategy of the game as well as increasing the difficulty? the fact that people dont have elaborate moves when not fighting? like every other game, ever? the fact that its different to your "holy" DE?

to me, the only thing i disliked about DE:IW was the fact that it wasnt as long as i could have liked. it features vast landscapes, varying locations, sublime graphics and a hell of a lot of choices. Sure, there are glitches and miniturisque errors but i never noticed them untill some of the more criticisive people screamed them out to me in an un-nessacery list of hatred (then accused ME of not giving them their opinions, when mine is just as valid as theirs)!

i get fed up with people slagging of DE:IW just because it isnt the perfect game. i can appreiate how people dislike it- hell, i can understand when people hate it, but when people force the fact that it is shit on the community (therefore putting off a lot of people who would love it, but are put off by the DE purists) it really irritates me.

im not directing this at anyone in particular, but its just that everyone who says the game is crap is shouting abuse across the forum at this game, without respect for anyones opinions. Those are the only people ive been getting at- notice everyone who says "IMO i dont like this game" i dont mind... its the people who say "This game IS shit" that frustrates me.

Oh for crying out loud. I'm not going to say 'In my opinion...' before everything I say, it's just too much hassle. Most of my comments in this thread have obviously been my personal reflections, but as I said a few posts ago, I know large sections of other communities, including the Deus Ex, that really don't like the game.

Thinking that I'm trying to tell you that you shouldn't be playing it is totally incorrect... I can't force you to do or not do something. I'm just giving my suggestions to why I think it's a bad sequel, and a bad game in general.

Finally, can I ask you to use paragraphs properly? Reading your posts is becoming a serious eyesore.

Yeah, I just like winding him up a little. The graphics in IW are good, not great. The AI is vastly improved omg! the only thing I miss is skills and hacking being unified.

Otherwise I'd say it was a worthy inheritor of the DE name.
