Unless this turns out to be a rumor of some kind(that thread doesn't show a source, just mentions that they said it on some live chat/newscast), which I really hope it is, my interest in this game just took a nosedive. I loved the big hectic battles in COD4.

And now for the bad news: there will be no dedicated servers for the PC version of CoD:MW2. Also no anti cheat and no modding tools.

K, im going back to my previous statement. I'll pass on buying this then. I have plenty of other developers who dont ruin their games for PC users to support.

Eh, I'm pushing my optimism to the limit. I won't make a final decision until there's a clear and official information(which this interview isn't) from IW on the matter, which explains the availability of dedi servers, their alternative "IW.net" system, and whether dedicated servers will ever be implemented.(although releasing a game without them in the first place isn't exactly a good sign for their PC support)

I'm still not liking this news at all.

Maybe if we bitch enough they'll delay it and make it not stupid.

You guys still have COD's riveting singleplayer campaign.

EL OH EL

The only reason they've done this is to try and stop piracy and a bet this will now lead to a lot more people pirating it. Great move removing most of the things that make the PC version great what next removing keyboard and mouse support.

Well this just went to a day one buy to a "wait and see" buy... Can't believe IW would do this, especially since they started off on the PC!

What the hell.
This better not be true... dear God I hope it isn't true.

No dedicated servers. Yeah that's one way to completely kill the game.

I'm gonna cancel my pre order next week...I'm gonna get FO3:GOTY instead.

I only care about SP, so me still buy :)

Yay for no delay.

No yay for ****ing up the multiplayer.

I'm just gonna play MW1 online methinks.

I'm getting the 360 version!

For both MP and SP, I fell in love with CoD4 MP just recently, hadn't tried it before!

I'm very upset about this...Why would they do something this stupid?

Because they're owned by Activision-Blizzard, same company that removed unhindered LAN support from Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.

They want to screw as much money out of people as they can without realising people will just turn to piracy if there is no reason to buy it.

Nah, I'm only in it for the SP too, so as long as it's as good of a port as CoD4 then I'm good.

Really? Have you ever tried the MP portion of it? It's really quite fun. I'm assuming it's going to be pretty damned good SP, but the MP is still really, really fun.

MW2 mp is a huge improvement from first mw2 mp. so whoever is not going to play it, you will going to miss out.

Say what?

Don't you understand? See, they made the game last year and released it to a select portion of the African continent, and he purchased it illegally through the black market. He played that version of the MP for MW2, but they're re-releasing the game to everywhere with the revamped MP.

Understand now? :)

Nah, I don't do much multiplayer TBH, tried TF2 but it didn't grab me. The only multi games I have ever played consistently are the original AvP at which I was a ****ing god, which got riuned by the crappy MP in the sequel and Left 4 Dead.

Mods on the IW forums basically erased all the threads concerning the lack of dedicated servers, including a monster of 150 pages long. (Most) new topics get closed right after they are made. Still no clarification on the situation though.

Most gaming sites haven't found out about the news, but Kotaku has this on the subject.

I'm guessing the quietness is because of the weekend...hopefully tomorrow all the mainstream sites will pick up the news and we'll see a response/clarification from IW. So far all this frenzy has been based on a few sentences uttered by a single person on a live interview.

I still wouldn't be surprised, OFPDR, another big military shooter that just came out, does not feature dedicated server support for users, only dedicated servers can be run by Codemasters.
