Armed Assault News from BIStudios

There is a new mode called "capture the island," which is exactly what it sounds like. In this mode, up to 100 players must fight for control of the island by capturing cities, resources, and other control points. (...) A standard-sized session of this mode can take hours, if not days, to complete, which is why a "join in progress" system has been implemented to allow players to join and leave the game at will. It'll definitely be strange to hear of co-workers who play for a little while in the morning, go to work, and come back in the evening to rejoin the fight.

That sounds bloody awesome.
 
From what I understood from previous previews, 'Capture The Island' would actually encompass the WHOLE 400m2 island. Now THAT is freaking awesome.

Well, IMHO it doesn't look much better than OFP from 2001. Too little shown for 2006, although the gameplay will be improved.
 
I was watching the Multiplayer press demo and it looked pretty neat, but the sounds for the ar-15 (I think?) are very underwhelming. I hope they change the sounds for that before the release. It sounds so wimpy, like a friggin air gun or something, I dunno.
 
The animations are top notch from what I can see in that video, can't wait to get co-oping at this :D.
 
According to WP.com Armed Assault has been delayed to Q3. Bohemia Interactive is also still looking for a publisher.
 
Yeah this has been known for a while but only now its become official.

We're working on an FSM based modular AI system which will allow for AI with both great depth and great flexibility, what this means is that we can have AI who use the terrain and world to their advantage just like a player does (or should if they want to live), an AI that can take cover when their ammunition is running low to reload to not be caught in the open when empty, AI that will seek the cover of trees or buildings when moving from one area to another, AI that if it gets out of a vehicle is aware enough to use that vehicle as cover until moving on to the next piece of cover.

I like how this sounds.....hope the AI will turn out as good as its cracked up to be.......

Deff. not buynig TrackIR for Armed Assault, however, I've become a fairly avid flight sim player, and might thus in the future buy it for those, but deff. not solely for ArmA.:p
 
wow, I just watched the latest video. It's shaping up really nicely, I noticed the sky and backdrop look so much better, and the foliage seemed more varied and dense, It's looking like a must buy.
 
Q3 was the last official number
So anytime between now and November excluding possible delays
 
Is November Q3? Isn't November Q4?
Anyway, I'm guessing we might be seeing it late September or early October.
